Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra officially began preparations for the construction of an integrated campus in the Saentis Village area, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency on an area of about 25 hectares.
\n\"\"The preparation was marked by the pressing of the siren button by the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr. K.H. Haedar Nashir, M.Si, on Saturday (21\/12). Accompanying him were the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mu’ti, MPd, UMSU Rekor, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, Acting Regent of Deliserdang, Ir. Wiriya Al Rahman, MM, Chairman of PWM North Sumatra Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution MA, Chairman of PP Aisyiyah, Dr. Salmah Orbayinah, M.Kes.<\/p>\n

Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Haedar Nashir in his speech expressed his gratitude for the start of the construction of the UMSU integrated campus which will also be the arena for the 49th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress in 2027.<\/p>\n

According to Haedar, with a spirit that fosters joy, it must also show responsibility. \u2018The Congress is a chain of Muhammadiyah struggles that have the spirit of realising progressive Islam,\u2019 he said.\"\"<\/p>\n

Haedar Nashir said that the construction of the campus is very good for the development of education in the future. In addition, the construction will also have an effect on improving the community’s economy.<\/p>\n

\u2018There is also a campus, the campus has two impacts, one is to directly educate the nation’s life. So, people everywhere should not feel threatened if there is a new campus because in the long run the campus educates the nation’s life. If our nation does not progress in education, we will be left behind,\u2019 said Haedar.<\/p>\n

The second impact is on the community’s economy. According to him, the construction of each campus will also make the surrounding economy increase.<\/p>\n

On that occasion, Haedar emphasised that there are a number of things that are an important part of Muhammadiyah’s role in addressing national and societal issues. The important role is to liberate people from economic, social and educational backwardness.<\/p>\n

\"\"Indonesia’s Human Capital Index is low, including the level of intelligence (IQ), which leads to education and health problems,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

For this reason, Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah must make efforts to make improvements to realise the vision of Progressive Islam.<\/p>\n

Previously, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr Agussani, MAP said the area of the integrated campus was around 25 hectares. On that land, various buildings will be built to support student activities.<\/p>\n

Agussani said that a Progress Auditorium with a capacity of 6,500 visitors and the Walidah Sport Hall would be built to support the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiah Congresses which will be held in 2027. \u2018It is planned that this building will be completed in September 2027,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n

The preparation event for the construction of the UMSU integrated campus was coupled with the presentation of awards by PP Muhammadiyah to parties who contributed a lot to the process of providing land and building an integrated campus. The award was handed over directly by the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Prof. Dr Haedar Nashir to the Director of Medan Industrial Estate, Daly Mulyana and Awi, S.H and family.\"\"<\/p>\n

The preparation activity for the construction of the UMSU integrated campus was closed by symbolically planting 100 durian trees to become a green and beautiful area.<\/p>\n

Also present at the event were Deputy Minister of Education and Culture Dr Fajar Rizal Ulhaq, MA, elements of the Central Leadership of PP Muhammadiyah, such as Prof. Dadang Khahmad, Dr. Saad Ibrahim, Dr. Agung Danarto, Dr. Agus Taufiqurrohman. M.Kes, Prof. Dr Hilman Latif, Chairperson of PP Aisyiyah Dr. Salmah Orbayinah, Noordjannah Djohantini, UMY Rector Gunawan Budianto to the Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Education Office, Ir. Abdul Haris Lubis, M.Si.<\/p>\n
