<\/p>\nUniversitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) met with the Indonesian Ambassador to China, Jauhar Oratmangun, at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Beijing on Monday (June 2). The meeting was part of UMSU\u2019s official visit to China, which took place from May 29 to June 5, 2025, at the invitation of the Chinese Consulate General in Medan.<\/p>\n
UMSU was represented by Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., who joined a delegation comprising university leaders, Islamic boarding school figures, media professionals, and representatives from the Chinese-Indonesian Association (INTI) of North Sumatra.<\/p>\n

In a warm and engaging discussion, Ambassador Jauhar emphasized the importance of fostering sustainable cooperation between Indonesia and China, particularly in the fields of education, culture, and civil society. He also expressed appreciation for the contributions of Muhammadiyah and its affiliated universities, including UMSU, in strengthening international relations through grassroots diplomacy.<\/p>\n
Dr. Rudianto stated that the visit was part of UMSU\u2019s efforts to expand its international network, build academic partnerships, and enrich the academic community\u2019s understanding of global dynamics\u2014especially the development of Islamic society and education in China.<\/p>\n
In addition to Beijing, the delegation also visited the cities of Zhengzhou and Urumqi in the Xinjiang region. In Zhengzhou, the group observed the daily lives of the local Muslim community and visited one of the oldest mosques, which serves as a hub for Islamic activities in the area.<\/p>\n
In Urumqi, the delegation was officially received by the Xinjiang Islamic Institute, a leading Islamic educational institution in northwest China.
