Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, officially inaugurated 83 Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs along with Faculty Department Heads for the 2025\u20132029 term. The solemn inauguration ceremony took place on Friday (August 8) at the UMSU Auditorium, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.<\/p>\n

The oath of office was witnessed by the Muhammadiyah Central Board (PP) Chairman for Education and Sports, Prof. Dr. Irwan Akib, M.Pd., the Chairman of UMSU\u2019s Board of Trustees (BPH), Dr. Bahril Datuk S., SE., M.M., Vice Rectors, postgraduate and faculty leaders, bureau heads, as well as families of the newly inaugurated officials.<\/p>\n

The Rector\u2019s Decree, read by Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd., formalized the appointments. Following the oath, congratulations were extended by PP Muhammadiyah\u2019s leadership, UMSU\u2019s Board of Trustees, and the Rector.<\/p>\n

In his address, PP Muhammadiyah Chairman Prof. Irwan Akib reminded the newly inaugurated officials to uphold integrity in leadership.
\u201cDo not be greedy for position, nor overly attached to office. If you are entrusted with responsibility, fulfill it properly,\u201d he advised.<\/p>\n

He stressed that UMSU\u2019s continued growth depends on the quality of its human resources within the study programs, as these units are the university\u2019s frontlines.<\/p>\n

He further emphasized the spirit of Muhammadiyah: \u201cIf we understand the purpose of Muhammadiyah, and carry out our duties at UMSU with that spirit, all tasks will feel lighter. Our ultimate goal is to seek the pleasure of Allah SWT, not simply to hold office,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Noting that UMSU is ranked among the top 10 Muhammadiyah-Affiliated Universities (PTMA) nationwide, Prof. Irwan encouraged unity to realize UMSU\u2019s international aspirations and ensure the success of Muhammadiyah\u2019s 49th Congress in North Sumatra.
\u201cIf others doubt us, let us prove ourselves not with words but with excellent work. Together, we must support UMSU\u2019s achievements\u2014and also actively contribute to Muhammadiyah,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Earlier, UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani urged the officials to serve with dedication:
\u201cMay this trust be carried out with sincerity, to safeguard the organization\u2019s reputation and shape future generations of excellence. I believe this new leadership will advance the vision and mission of both the faculties and the university,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He underscored that the selection process was conducted objectively and transparently:
\u201cThis process was carried out step by step, without external interference. It was grounded in competence, integrity, and loyalty. No favoritism, no political backing. This is our foundation for progress,\u201d he affirmed.<\/p>\n

Prof. Agussani also outlined UMSU\u2019s journey of achievements: from a \u201cB\u201d accreditation status in 2013\u20132018, advancing to \u201cA\u201d and \u201cExcellent\u201d in 2018\u20132023, and now setting internationalization goals for 2023\u20132028.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur target is to enter the QS Rankings by 2026, with at least four programs achieving international accreditation, and to establish UMSU as a research and innovation-based university. Our dream is to become a world-class institution,\u201d he declared.<\/p>\n

He reminded the newly appointed leaders to understand this roadmap, stressing that unity will be key in facing future higher education challenges.<\/p>\n

As of 2025, UMSU has 17 full professors and 636 permanent lecturers, and remains committed to accelerating its strategic plan toward becoming an internationally recognized university, while also ensuring the success of Muhammadiyah\u2019s 49th Congress in 2027, to be held at UMSU\u2019s fourth campus.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to all Heads and Secretaries of Study Programs, as well as Department Heads of the 2021\u20132025 period, for your dedicated service,\u201d Prof. Agussani concluded.<\/p>\n

The newly inaugurated leaders for the 2025\u20132029 term include representatives from the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Economics and Business, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, as well as the Postgraduate School, covering programs from undergraduate to doctoral level.<\/p>\n
