The event officially opened on Monday (Nov 3) at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"464\" data-end=\"581\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-03-at-1.41.32-PM-300x200.jpeg\" \/>This marks the second year the event has been held as part of UMSU\u2019s commitment to becoming a World Class University.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"583\" data-end=\"807\">The event was officially opened by the UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP., represented by Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd., who highlighted the importance of mastering foreign languages in the era of globalization.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"809\" data-end=\"949\">\n<p data-start=\"811\" data-end=\"949\">\u201cEnglish, Arabic, and even Mandarin are now key tools for broadening perspectives and expanding international networks,\u201d said Prof. Akrim.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"951\" data-end=\"1257\">He stated that UMSU fully supports this competition as a strategic step toward becoming a world-class university. According to him, excellent facilities alone are not enough\u2014universities must also prepare superior human resources. Prof. Akrim also expressed pride in UMSU\u2019s achievements at the Asian level.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1259\" data-end=\"1431\">\n<p data-start=\"1261\" data-end=\"1431\">\u201cGod willing, next week we will receive the QS Asia Ranking certificate, and UMSU has secured the 445th position in Asia. This is a shared pride for all of us,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1433\" data-end=\"1584\">Previously, Head of the UMSU Language Center, Muhammad Rafi\u2019i, S.Pd., M.A., enthusiastically reported the significant increase in participant interest.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-03-at-1.41.33-PM-2-300x200.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"1586\" data-end=\"1746\">\n<p data-start=\"1588\" data-end=\"1746\">\u201cLast year, we were only able to attract around 250 participants, but this year the number has nearly tripled to 600,\u201d Rafi\u2019i said, followed by loud applause.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1748\" data-end=\"1910\">He emphasized that this competition is not only about winning but also about allowing participants to express themselves and channel their ideas through language.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1912\" data-end=\"2052\">Rafi also stressed the Language Center\u2019s moral responsibility to broaden access to language learning both inside and outside the university.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2054\" data-end=\"2228\">\n<p data-start=\"2056\" data-end=\"2228\">\u201cWe want to show that UMSU is no longer just a local campus. Through language programs, we are building international collaborations and continuing to innovate,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2230\" data-end=\"2382\">The event also featured a seminar session by Education USA representative, Dimas Samudra, who presented opportunities for studying in the United States.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2384\" data-end=\"2539\">\n<p data-start=\"2386\" data-end=\"2539\">\u201cEducation USA is part of the U.S. Department of State that provides accurate and free information about studying in the United States,\u201d Dimas explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2541\" data-end=\"2708\">\n<p data-start=\"2543\" data-end=\"2708\">\u201cThere are still many small scholarships that remain unused, even though these can be combined to help students pursue studies at top global universities,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2710\" data-end=\"2968\">In addition to the seminar, the committee introduced members of the UMSU Language Center team, who explained several flagship programs, including Talk Master, Sunset Talk, English Camp, and the computer-based TOEFL Prediction Test developed by the UMSU team.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2710\" data-end=\"2968\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-11-03-at-1.41.38-PM-1.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"2970\" data-end=\"3254\">\n<p data-start=\"2972\" data-end=\"3254\">\u201cWe have prepared a web-based system for the TOEFL Prediction Test that can be accessed by students and lecturers,\u201d explained Khairun Nisa, M.TESOL., Secretary of the Language Center.<br data-start=\"3155\" data-end=\"3158\" \/>\u201cThis program will be launched soon, and we are ready to collaborate with schools,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3256\" data-end=\"3429\">Meanwhile, Arabic Language judge Dr. Arwin Juli Rakhmadi Butar-Butar, M.A., reminded participants to pay close attention to <em data-start=\"3380\" data-end=\"3387\">nahwu<\/em> and <em data-start=\"3392\" data-end=\"3400\">sharaf<\/em> rules during their speeches.<\/p>\n<blockquote data-start=\"3431\" data-end=\"3611\">\n<p data-start=\"3433\" data-end=\"3611\">\u201cIn the Arabic speech competition, participants must observe proper grammar, correct vowel markings, and accurate pronunciation. Do not arbitrarily \u2018sukun\u2019 words,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"3613\" data-end=\"3849\">The event was lively with various competition categories, including English Speech, Arabic Speech, Storytelling, and Spelling Bee.
