This was the promise Anggita Sari Rangkuti made to herself after being named Second Place Winner<\/strong> of the 2025 Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres) for the LLDikti Region I of North Sumatra. The sweet girl from Mandailing Natal not only kept her promise\u2014she officially qualified as a national finalist<\/strong> for the 2025 Pilmapres.<\/p>\n Her achievement marks a historic milestone for Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, which has competed in Pilmapres for seven consecutive years but only now reached the national stage. Anggita is also the first-ever representative<\/strong> from LLDikti Region I North Sumatra to advance to this level.<\/p>\n \u201cProud, emotional, and under huge pressure,\u201d she admitted. \u201cI realize now I\u2019m not only representing myself or my university, but also North Sumatra.\u201d<\/p>\n Behind this simple statement lies a long journey that shaped Anggita. The youngest child of Zulhan and Nurhayati, she was born into a humble family. Her parents, both junior high school graduates, work as small business owners in Mandailing Natal. From that modest home, prayers always accompanied the youngest daughter who chose to leave her hometown for Medan, studying at UMSU just like her older siblings.<\/p>\n At first, Anggita never imagined joining Pilmapres. Her dream was to apply for IISMA, a scholarship program to study abroad. \u201cThat was my goal from the start of college,\u201d she said. But that year, the program was suspended\u2014a disappointment that hit her hard.<\/p>\n Around the same time, the leadership of the Faculty of Economics and Business at UMSU called her and recommended she try for Pilmapres. Anggita was stunned. In her early semesters, she hardly knew what Pilmapres was. She only remembered seeing a flyer of a senior who once became a finalist. That decision became her turning point.<\/p>\n She spent six full months preparing under the guidance of her mentor, Muhammad Shareza Hafiz, SE., M.Acc. It wasn\u2019t just about memorizing material or drafting a creative idea\u2014they pushed her into international competitions, encouraged her to sharpen her language skills, and broaden her experiences.<\/p>\n The efforts paid off. With a long list of achievements, Anggita won Second Place<\/strong> at the LLDikti regional level. Many thought her journey would end there. But she refused to stop.<\/p>\n \u201cPeople were skeptical. But that only made me more determined to prove that North Sumatra deserves a representative at the national level,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n She refined everything: rewriting her creative idea, improving her presentation video, even digging through old documents to strengthen her portfolio. That determination carried her all the way to the national stage\u2014an accomplishment never before achieved in her university\u2019s history.<\/p>\n Anggita is not just a student who sits in class. The world is her learning space. She has represented in international forums from Malaysia to the Philippines, served as North Sumatra\u2019s Language Ambassador, won an Accounting Olympiad, published two international journals and one national journal, and passed the Merdeka Entrepreneurship Program.<\/p>\n \u201cHonestly, all those activities shaped my resilience,\u201d she said. Her principle is simple yet powerful: try everything, take any positive opportunity, and never be afraid to start.<\/p>\n Behind all this lies a force she never forgets: her parents\u2019 prayers. For her, prayer is both a place to return to and a reminder that every step forward is not just the result of hard work, but also the blessing that flows from home.<\/p>\n Her life motto is captured in one sentence: \u201cHit, hit again, and shaped.\u201d<\/em> Never fear failure\u2014because failure is not the end.<\/p>\n Even after Pilmapres, Anggita is not stopping. She is now preparing for the Student Creativity Program (PKM), aiming to advance to PIMNAS.
