The deployment was led by Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum, at the FKIP Hall on Muchtar Basri Street No. 3, Medan, on Tuesday (16\/12).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"633\" data-end=\"887\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-16-at-6.35.01-PM-300x200.jpeg\" \/>This initiative reflects the university\u2019s social concern and moral responsibility toward communities affected by disasters, particularly children, and forms part of the ongoing <em data-start=\"810\" data-end=\"823\">UMSU Peduli<\/em> (UMSU Cares) program initiated since the onset of the disaster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"889\" data-end=\"1072\">Vice Rector I Prof. Arifin expressed his appreciation for the traumatic counseling initiative, emphasizing that trauma recovery is a long-term process that requires sustained efforts.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1074\" data-end=\"1265\">\u201cWhat we are doing through this traumatic counseling program is truly meaningful. Trauma recovery cannot be achieved through a single intervention; it requires continuous support,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1267\" data-end=\"1393\">He also conveyed his appreciation to the faculty leadership, study programs, and students actively involved in the initiative.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1395\" data-end=\"1616\">\u201cThank you to the faculty leaders, study programs, and students who participated in this activity. We pray that this difficult period will pass soon. This guidance and support reflect our shared responsibility,\u201d he added.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-16-at-6.35.00-PM-300x200.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1618\" data-end=\"1745\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-16-at-6.35.03-PM-300x200.jpeg\" \/>Prof. Arifin further offered prayers for the affected communities, wishing them strength and resilience in facing the disaster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"1747\" data-end=\"2024\">Earlier, Vice Dean I of FKIP, Dr. Hj. Dewi Kesuma Nasution, S.Pd., M.Pd., along with Vice Dean III, Dr. Mandra Saragih, S.Pd., M.Pd., emphasized that FKIP UMSU\u2019s presence in disaster-affected areas goes beyond material assistance, with a strong focus on psychological recovery.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2026\" data-end=\"2361\">\u201cThe FKIP UMSU disaster response in Tanjung Pura represents the university\u2019s concern and moral responsibility toward affected communities. This traumatic counseling program aims to help residents\u2014especially children\u2014restore their sense of safety, self-confidence, and motivation to resume learning and daily activities,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2363\" data-end=\"2516\">In addition to traumatic counseling, FKIP UMSU also distributed educational aid to support the continuity of children\u2019s education following the disaster.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2518\" data-end=\"2778\">\u201cWe are committed not only to providing temporary assistance, but also to supporting sustainable trauma recovery for children through educational, psychosocial, and humanitarian approaches. We also hope to extend similar activities to Aceh Tamiang,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2518\" data-end=\"2778\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-12-16-at-6.35.04-PM-1-1024x682.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2780\" data-end=\"2893\">The deployed team comprised FKIP UMSU\u2019s deans, heads of study programs, and student organization representatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\" data-start=\"2895\" data-end=\"3238\">Prior to departure, Vice Rector I Prof. Arifin and the FKIP UMSU team inspected the supplies to be delivered to the disaster site, including packages containing snacks and counseling support materials for children.
