The Vice Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Fajar Riza Ul Haq<\/span><\/span>, visited the development site of the Integrated Campus of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> (UMSU) in Saentis Village, Percut Sei Tuan, Deli Serdang, on Thursday (January 29).<\/p>\n

His visit to the construction site\u2014which will host the 49th Muhammadiyah and \u2018Aisyiyah Congress in 2027\u2014was welcomed directly by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP. Also in attendance were the Treasurer of Pimpinan Wilayah Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> (PWM North Sumatra), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qorib, M.A.; Amri Yusuf, member of the Badan Pengelola Keuangan Haji<\/span><\/span> (BPKH); leaders of Muhammadiyah Regional Branches (PDM) from Medan, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, and Langkat; along with other Muhammadiyah members.<\/p>\n

Dr. Fajar noted the rapid progress of the campus development since he last attended the groundbreaking ceremony on December 21, 2024. At that time, the area was still vacant land. Now, the \u201cAuditorium Berkemajuan\u201d and the Walidah Sports Hall have shown significant advancement.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe progress has been remarkably fast. Its grandeur is already visible. Even at less than 40 percent completion, the scale and presence of the buildings are impressive,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

He stated that such tangible physical progress reflects Muhammadiyah\u2019s distinctive approach to advancing its mission\u2014through concrete development and real action. He expressed hope that this momentum would further strengthen Muhammadiyah\u2019s educational institutions.<\/p>\n

The Vice Minister also praised the construction of three Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) within the integrated campus. The initiative is expected not only to generate substantial employment opportunities but also to support nutritional needs for schoolchildren benefiting from the government\u2019s free nutritious meal program.<\/p>\n

Dr. Fajar described UMSU\u2019s development under the leadership of Prof. Agussani as a source of pride among Muhammadiyah universities nationwide and one of the most outstanding in Sumatra. The auditorium and sports hall, he said, are more than educational facilities\u2014they stand as monuments of a progressive campus.<\/p>\n

He expressed hope that the construction of the auditorium and sports hall\u2014designated as the venue for the 2027 Muhammadiyah and \u2018Aisyiyah Congress\u2014will proceed smoothly and according to plan.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP., conveyed his gratitude for the Vice Minister\u2019s visit and guidance regarding UMSU\u2019s preparations as host of the 2027 Congress.<\/p>\n

The integrated campus is strategically located adjacent to an industrial area, and its presence is expected to generate significant added value for surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

Regarding construction priorities, the Rector stated, \u201cTo prepare for the congress, development is focused on two main buildings: the auditorium, which has reached 36 percent completion, and the sports hall, currently at 45 percent.\u201d<\/p>\n

Beyond the auditorium and sports hall, UMSU is developing a sustainable ecosystem within the campus area, including three SPPG kitchens, integrated farming, poultry facilities, fish ponds, plantations, a bakery factory, a bottled water plant, and a hospital.<\/p>\n

In the future, beyond serving as the congress venue, the campus is envisioned as a center for education, healthcare services, and the strengthening of research- and entrepreneurship-based economic independence.<\/p>\n
