In his remarks, Prof. Agussani stated that sharing with the surrounding community has become an annual tradition, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>\nThe Faculty of Medicine at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FK UMSU) distributed 125 Ramadan aid packages (1447 H) to residents living around the campus. The distribution was carried out directly by the Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.A.P., on Wednesday (March 4) at the Faculty of Medicine Auditorium on Jalan Gedung Arca No. 53, Teladan, Medan.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Prof. Agussani stated that sharing with the surrounding community has become an annual tradition, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gathering with residents around the Faculty of Medicine has been held every year,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also briefly outlined UMSU\u2019s development, noting that the FKIK building is the university\u2019s first campus. The Faculty of Medicine itself was established in 2008 after a long process.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently, we have around 1,548 students, with more than 1,000 alumni spread across various regions,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
The Rector highlighted recent progress at FKIK UMSU, including the approval of two new specialist programs: Surgery and Pulmonology. Student admissions for both programs have already begun.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, we have received approval for two specialist programs\u2014Surgery and Pulmonology. Admissions are now open, with a quota of four students per year for Surgery and three for Pulmonology,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, UMSU plans to expand its specialist programs further. \u201cIn 2026, we aim to add three more specialist programs, and by 2028, we hope to reach up to 12,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In addition to academic development, UMSU continues to expand its infrastructure, including the development of its fourth campus in Sampali, featuring an auditorium and sport hall that will host the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress in North Sumatra.![](\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-03-04-at-1.55.45-PM-2-300x200.jpeg\")

\u201cUMSU is an open university. We welcome everyone, regardless of background or religion,\u201d he emphasized.<\/p>\n
He expressed hope that the distribution of Ramadan aid packages will continue to grow as part of the university\u2019s social initiatives.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Head of Medan Kota District, Muhammad Andisyahputra, S.STP., M.A.P., welcomed the initiative and praised FKIK UMSU\u2019s concern for the surrounding community.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe appreciate this initiative. UMSU has shown great care for the community. We are proud that residents can feel the positive impact of the university\u2019s presence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also expressed hope that the relationship between the campus and the community will continue to strengthen.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe hope this campus continues to grow and bring benefits to the people of Medan, especially Medan Kota. We trust FKIK UMSU will keep improving and make our region proud,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Dean of FKIK, Dr. Siti Masliana Siregar, Sp.THT-KL., Subsp.Rino(K), apologized to residents for the limited parking facilities at the faculty, which are currently under pressure due to the increasing number of students. \u201cWe acknowledge this limitation and hope to continue working together with the community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
In total, 1,529 Ramadan aid packages were distributed across various groups: 342 packages for residents around the main campus, 125 for postgraduate areas, 180 for the integrated campus in Sampali, 30 for local government officials, 341 for Muhammadiyah General Hospital, 261 for outsourcing staff, 105 for volunteers across UMSU, and 20 for cleaning personnel.<\/p>\n
Also in attendance were vice deans, the Secretary of Medan Kota District Endang Wastiani, S.Kep., Ners., M.A.P., heads of study programs within FKIK, the Head of Teladan Barat Village Indra, S.ST., village officials, a representative from the Medan Kota Police Sector (AKP Ridwan), and neighborhood leaders.<\/p>\n
