Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> participated in a cycling event and community aid distribution program alongside Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Ibni Syed Sirajuddin Jamalullail<\/span><\/span>, the Crown Prince of Perlis.<\/p>\n

The event was part of a series of friendship and partnership-strengthening activities involving UMSU, Universiti Malaysia Perlis<\/span><\/span> (UniMAP), and Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia<\/span><\/span> with the Raja Muda of Perlis at Istana Arau<\/span><\/span> on Sunday (May 3).<\/p>\n

The cycling and charity program was personally led by the Raja Muda of Perlis and attended by heads of government departments in Perlis, representatives from Petronas<\/span><\/span>, as well as the Consul General of Penang, Wanton Saragih Sidauruk<\/span><\/span>, together with staff members.<\/p>\n

UMSU\u2019s participation in the charity program was led directly by Rector Akrim<\/span><\/span> and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Agussani<\/span><\/span>. Also present were Secretary of PW Muhammadiyah North Sumatra Muhammad Qorib<\/span><\/span>, Secretary of the Board of Trustees Mutholib<\/span><\/span>, Vice Rector III Rudianto<\/span><\/span>, along with deans and bureau heads. Leaders from Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia also took part in the event.<\/p>\n

The cycling activity covered approximately ten kilometers, passing through villages surrounded by rice fields and the region\u2019s famous Harum Manis mango plantations cultivated by local residents.<\/p>\n

UMSU\u2019s involvement in both the cycling event and the aid distribution program reflects the university\u2019s growing recognition as an institution that stands alongside other leading universities in the region. UMSU has established partnerships with higher education institutions across ASEAN, particularly in Malaysia, and has received recognition from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency<\/span><\/span> (MQA).<\/p>\n

Before the cycling and charity activities began, Rector Akrim expressed gratitude to the Raja Muda of Perlis for the invitation to strengthen cooperation while participating in community service initiatives.<\/p>\n

The enhancement of academic cooperation had previously been initiated during a meeting between the Raja Muda of Perlis and the leadership of UniMAP and Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia at Istana Arau. The collaboration is expected to provide greater benefits for all parties involved.<\/p>\n

UMSU\u2019s participation alongside the Raja Muda of Perlis also symbolizes the university\u2019s acceptance and recognition as part of the Perlis community.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Raja Muda of Perlis officially received an Honorary Doctorate (Dr. Hc.) from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> in Medan in September 2025. The honorary degree was awarded in recognition of his outstanding contributions to education, social development, and leadership, particularly in supporting the establishment of Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n
