One of the featured activities was a mini talk show themed <em data-start=\"444\" data-end=\"505\">\u201cMedan Youth Ready to Become Drivers of the Digital World.\u201d<\/em> The event took place on Friday (May 8) at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"606\" data-end=\"983\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-08-at-8.36.35-PM-2-300x200.jpeg\" \/>The mini talk show featured three speakers: <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Fadia Putri<\/span><\/span> from the North Sumatra Representative Office of <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Bank Indonesia<\/span><\/span>, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Julian<\/span><\/span> from the Rupiah Currency Management Division of Bank Indonesia, and UMSU academic and Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Radiman<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"985\" data-end=\"1269\">UMSU Rector <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Akrim<\/span><\/span> was represented by Vice Rector III <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Rudianto<\/span><\/span>, who officially opened the event. In his remarks, he emphasized that universities have a major responsibility to prepare students for rapid technological change.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1271\" data-end=\"1384\">\u201cThis event is not merely ceremonial, but a momentum to build a digital ecosystem among students,\u201d said Rudianto.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1386\" data-end=\"1506\">He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between universities, government institutions, and industry sectors.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1508\" data-end=\"1673\">\u201cThe participation of academics, Bank Indonesia, and student communities demonstrates that digital transformation must be carried out collaboratively,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1675\" data-end=\"1793\">According to him, today\u2019s students have tremendous opportunities to become key players in Indonesia\u2019s digital economy.<img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-08-at-8.36.36-PM-300x200.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1795\" data-end=\"1952\">\u201cStudents today should not only become job seekers, but must also be prepared to become innovators and creators of digital solutions for society,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1954\" data-end=\"2080\">He expressed hope that similar activities would continue to provide students with learning opportunities beyond the classroom.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2082\" data-end=\"2209\">\u201cIf activities like this continue, students will become increasingly prepared to face a rapidly changing job market,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2211\" data-end=\"2467\">Earlier, Acting Chairwoman of the Medan City IWAPI Branch and Head of BSTI UMSU <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Yoshida Sary<\/span><\/span> emphasized in her committee report that digital transformation has become an essential need for entrepreneurs, especially women-led MSMEs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2469\" data-end=\"2637\">\u201cIn this digital era, business actors, particularly women entrepreneurs, must be able to adapt to technological developments and understand digital literacy,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2639\" data-end=\"2810\">She explained that the Medan Coding Competition 2026 was held over two days, beginning with a digital education talk show and continuing with a coding competition at UMSU.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2812\" data-end=\"2929\">\u201cThis activity is truly intended to support the empowerment of women-led MSMEs through digital education,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2812\" data-end=\"2929\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-08-at-8.36.31-PM.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2931\" data-end=\"3118\">According to her, the collaboration between IWAPI, the Medan City Government, BRIDA, and UMSU represents a concrete example of cross-sector synergy in building a technology-based economy.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3120\" data-end=\"3693\">The mini talk show was moderated by <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Anggiasari Lubis<\/span><\/span>. <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Fadia Putri<\/span><\/span> presented a session on <em data-start=\"3260\" data-end=\"3315\">\u201cDigital Payment System Transformation Through QRIS.\u201d<\/em> Meanwhile, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Julian<\/span><\/span> discussed the national campaign promoting love for the rupiah amid the growth of cashless payment systems. Finally, Dean of FEB UMSU <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Radiman<\/span><\/span> discussed the integration of Artificial Intelligence into the Digital Business Study Program and the role of academia in developing a digital generation.<\/p>\n<h2 data-section-id=\"1b16882\" data-start=\"3695\" data-end=\"3776\">Dean of FEB UMSU: AI Becomes a Core Competency in the Digital Business Program<\/h2>\n<p data-start=\"3778\" data-end=\"3928\">During the session, <span class=\"hover:entity-accent entity-underline inline cursor-pointer align-baseline\"><span class=\"whitespace-normal\">Radiman<\/span><\/span> explained the role of higher education institutions in developing digital human resources.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3778\" data-end=\"3928\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/umsu.ac.id\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-05-08-at-8.36.32-PM.jpeg\" \/><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3930\" data-end=\"4067\">He stated that UMSU has officially received approval to establish a Digital Business Study Program designed to align with industry needs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4069\" data-end=\"4192\">\u201cThis new study program is highly promising if the curriculum is truly aligned with the demands of the workforce,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4194\" data-end=\"4281\">He emphasized that the university is currently developing an industry-based curriculum.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4283\" data-end=\"4418\">\u201cWe are designing a curriculum that connects academic theory with real-world practice when students enter the workforce,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4420\" data-end=\"4509\">According to him, Digital Business students must master more than just economic theories.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4511\" data-end=\"4647\">\u201cWhether we like it or not, Artificial Intelligence must be integrated into the curriculum because it is a future necessity,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4649\" data-end=\"4748\">He also stressed the importance of combining business knowledge with information technology skills.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4750\" data-end=\"4954\">\u201cIf Digital Business is housed within the Faculty of Economics and Business, then approximately 70 percent of the curriculum will focus on business and 30 percent on information technology,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"4956\" data-end=\"5097\">He added that future learning methods at the university would prioritize practical implementation rather than purely theoretical instruction.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"5099\" data-end=\"5283\">\u201cMany students currently learn content creation independently.
