Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> (UMSU), Akrim<\/span><\/span>, presented updates on the development of the Muhammadiyah Congress venue during the anniversary celebration and opening ceremony of the instructor training program organized by the Regional Leadership of Muhammadiyah Youth of North Sumatra (PWPM North Sumatra). The event was held on Friday (May 8) at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.<\/div>\n

The event became a momentum for cadre consolidation as well as a report on North Sumatra\u2019s readiness to host the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress.<\/p>\n

In his remarks, Prof. Akrim explained that UMSU has been entrusted with organizing the 2027 Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress. He presented the progress of several major facilities that will serve as the central venues for the congress activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe construction progress of the Walidah Sports Hall has now reached 75 percent, while the Progressive Auditorium has reached 50.45 percent completion. We are targeting all construction to be completed by June 2027, while the Ahmad Dahlan Mosque is expected to be finished by February 2027,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

He expressed hope that the 2026 Muhammadiyah Anniversary celebration could be held at the future congress venue as part of the one-year countdown toward the major event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope the 2026 Muhammadiyah Anniversary can be held at the congress venue. This is our shared responsibility, and UMSU is fully prepared to embrace and collaborate with everyone,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, hosting the Muhammadiyah Congress requires broad participation from various Muhammadiyah elements and the wider community. UMSU estimates that thousands of volunteers will be needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will need approximately 2,500 to 5,000 volunteers. With unity and collective spirit, we are optimistic that we can successfully organize the 2027 Congress,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Earlier, on the same occasion, Pimpinan Wilayah Pemuda Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara<\/span><\/span> (PWPM North Sumatra) held its anniversary celebration along with a three-day Regional Instructor Training program. The event focused on strengthening cadre development and improving the capacity of organizational instructors.<\/p>\n

Chairman of PWPM North Sumatra Muhammad Syarif Lubis<\/span><\/span> emphasized that the agenda served as a consolidation platform for the Muhammadiyah youth movement in North Sumatra.<\/p>\n

\u201cGod willing, during these three days we will demonstrate the spirit of Muhammadiyah Youth. We hope this program will produce new instructors so that cadre development can continue to grow and expand,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He added that the participant selection process for the training was conducted rigorously to ensure the emergence of cadres capable of becoming organizational leaders in various regions.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope more high-quality Muhammadiyah Youth cadres will emerge through the selection and development process that has been carried out,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Also attending the event were Chairman of the UMSU Board of Trustees Agussani<\/span><\/span>, the UMSU Vice Rectors, Head of the Security Intelligence Agency of the Indonesian National Police Yuda Gustawan<\/span><\/span>, Secretary General of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah Youth Najih Prastiyo<\/span><\/span>, leaders of Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah in North Sumatra, members of provincial and district legislative councils, Muhammadiyah Youth alumni, leaders of youth organizations across North Sumatra, regional leaders of Muhammadiyah Youth throughout North Sumatra, and leaders of Muhammadiyah autonomous organizations.<\/p>\n
