The 107th anniversary celebration of Aisyiyah North Sumatra was held on Saturday (8/6) at the auditorium of the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara campus on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, and was attended by hundreds of Aisyiyah residents.
The event, organized by the North Sumatra Aisyiyah Regional Leadership (PWA), was marked by the launch of a poetry anthology book, which was attended by hundreds of residents. Prizes were also given to the winners of the competition.
Aisyiyah’s anniversary this year carries the theme “Strengthening and Expanding the Da’wah of Universal Humanity”. PWA North Sumatra held a series of milad activities from the end of March to early June, such as batik design competitions, scientific work competitions, green Aisyiyah, reportage and opinion on violence against women and children, sex education seminars, food creations, school cleaning competitions and the launching of an anthology book of 107 poems written by great Aisyiyah women in North Sumatra.
Assistant for Development and Economy of the Provincial Secretary Dr. H. Agus Tripriyono, S.E., M.Si., Ak, CA, representing the Acting Governor of North Sumatra, expressed his congratulations on Aisyiyah’s 107th anniversary. According to him, Aisyiyah’s milad is an important momentum for reflecting on the efforts made so far and perfecting better steps in the future.
“We hope Aisyiyah can achieve the nation’s ideals together with the North Sumatra government. The Aisyiyah movement as a progressive Islamic women’s organization must be able to benefit and provide the best for the wider community,” Agus said.
Previously, the Chairperson of the 2027 Congress Committee, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, who is also the Rector of UMSU, said organizing the Aisyiyah anniversary on the UMSU campus was a form of collaboration. According to him, organizing this millenial is a form of partnership and togetherness of Muhammadiyah business charities, namely UMSU, and is not just symbolic.
“The spearhead of UMSU is in Aisyiyah, starting from branches and moving to regions. The organization of this Milad is part of the togetherness of the North Sumatra Aisyiyah Regional Leadership and UMSU,” said Prof. Agussani.
On this occasion, the Chairman of the Congress Committee was sure that the 2027 Congress would be carried out well if there was collaboration like this. He hopes the Congress in North Sumatra can be as successful as in Solo.
“This is the master plan for the location of the Congress which will be built on the UMSU Campus in Sampali, we will make several buildings, so the Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congresses are not separated in place,” said Prof. Agussani.
He explained that Aisyiyah played an important role in the success of the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress. Some things that can be done include serving the congress participants well, providing a friendly and encouraging atmosphere, showing cleanliness to introduce North Sumatra culinary, and empowering MSMEs.
Furthermore, the Chairperson of PWA North Sumatra, Dr. Nur Rahmah Amini, M.Ag, said in her speech that the greatness, potential, and strength of Aisyiyah as a progressive Muslim women’s organization need to be optimized.
“As a progressive Islamic women’s organization, it is important to move optimally so that we can contribute to solving the problems of the nation and state,” said the Chairperson of PWA North Sumatra.
It has been 107 years that Aisyiyah has contributed through its charities in the fields of education, health, social services, community empowerment, economic empowerment and others that are clearly felt by the wider community.
The Chairperson of PWA North Sumatra also said that she was ready to become the backbone of the success of the 2027 Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress which was held in North Sumatra, precisely on the UMSU Campus.
While the Treasurer of PWM, North Sumatra Assoc. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qorib, M.A in his tausyiah conveyed the mandate of the 107th Aisyiyah Milad. He appealed to Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah cadres together to succeed the 49th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress which took place in North Sumatra and was held at UMSU.
The milad peak event was filled with a series of activities, such as launching an anthology book of 107 poems written by PWA North Sumatra cadres and creative activities such as poetry reading, vocal groups singing the song Da’wah Kemanusian Semesta to the awarding of competition prizes.
Also present were Deputy Chairperson of the North Sumatra DPRD, Rahmansyah Sibarani, Hendra Cipta, Members of the North Sumatra DPRD, WR III UMSU Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, North Sumatra PWA Advisor, Hj. Elynita, Aisyiyah Leaders throughout North Sumatra, Leaders of Muhammadiyah Ortoms throughout North Sumatra, Chairperson of the Coordinating Board of the Provsu Indonesian Women’s Organization and Chairperson of the Provsu Indonesian Women’s Islamic Consultative Body.
