Following Article 20 of the UMSU Statutes of 2013, the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M) has the primary duties and functions as a university supporting element that carries out the duties and functions of the university in fostering and managing research and community service by coordinating, monitoring, and assessing the implementation of research and community service which is carried out independently or in collaboration with other institutions, besides that it also carries out and manages the publication of scientific journals as a forum for scientific publications within UMSU.
LP2M UMSU was formed based on the Decree of the Rector of UMSU Number E/723/PTS.I-1106/1992, dated May 23, 1992, concerning establishing the Research and Community Service Institute of UMSU.
