Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and 23 universities in Indonesia signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the Humanitarian Project Program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) with INTI International University, Malaysia, on Monday (5/20) in Kuala Lumpur.
The Vice Rector Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation of UMSU Assoc signed the document. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si. This collaboration will launch programs with a big impact, including the humanitarian project program Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM).
This cooperation is facilitated by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuala Lumpur and is expected to provide proper education for many Indonesian children living in Malaysia whose residence status has not been officially registered.
Prof. Muhammad Firdaus, Education and Culture Attaché at the Indonesian Embassy, said that this program demonstrates the Indonesian government’s commitment to providing access to quality education for the Indonesian people.
“This MoU is an important first step in realizing programs that benefit the community, especially for Indonesian children in Malaysia who need access to education,” said Prof. Firdaus.
The MBKM humanitarian project program will provide opportunities for Indonesian students to conduct community service activities in Malaysia.
This activity is expected to help improve the quality of education for Indonesian children in Malaysia and strengthen bilateral relations between Indonesia and Malaysia.
