The Merdeka Learning Campus Unit of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (MBKM UMSU) held a closing ceremony for the Batch 4 Merdeka Student Exchange Program (PMM), on Thursday night (20/6) at the UMSU Campus Auditorium, Muchtar Basri Street no.3 Medan.
The closing was lively, filled with a series of gala dinner events and various cultural parade performances from 41 PMM Inbound UMSU Batch 4 students. This moment was welcomed and appreciated by the UMSU rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, who was also present.
“On behalf of the university, I would like to thank our inbound students who will return to their respective campuses. Even though they will leave this campus and city, I see that this PMM program is well managed, and our children can show their best performances in a series of events tonight,” said the Rector of UMSU.
Prof. Agussani hopes that the experience gained during the PMM program will be valuable for students as they continue their studies and lives in the future.”You have gained experience from hanging out on the UMSU campus and with students from outside North Sumatra. I hope this experience can be used for learning with lecturers at UMSU and as a provision for continuing relationships and cooperation in the future,” he hoped.
Based on reports from UMSU PMM PIC Dr. Mandra Saragih, S.Pd., M.Hum, all PMM Batch 4 activities at UMSU went smoothly, from the academic process to the Nusantara module activities with four sub-activities: diversity, Inspiration, Reflection, and Social Contribution.”Alhamdulillah, all PMM Batch 4 students have completed lectures and followed the four sub-activities of the Nusantara module well. Of course all this can be done with the full support of the Rector through the MBKM unit,” said Dr. Mandra.He said that there were 195 UMSU outbound PMM students studying at various Indonesian campuses who would soon return to UMSU.
On this occasion, one of the PMM Inbound student representatives, Ibni Romadhon from Nahdlatul Ulama Al Ghazali University Cilacap, expressed his pride in being able to take part in the PMM program at UMSU.”While studying at UMSU, I feel very proud and memorable. I met various students from all over Indonesia and learned about the preservation of North Sumatra culture. Visiting Lake Toba was a memorable moment for me because the Batak culture is still very strong. This inspired me to preserve Indonesian culture,” said Ibni.
He also thanked UMSU for the warm welcome and hospitality during the PMM program.”I represent all my friends, thanking UMSU for welcoming us so well. I hope the learning here can be good memories for all of us,” he added.Meanwhile, Vindi Chintya, one of the UMSU students participating in the PMM Outbound program at the University of Indonesia, shared her experience during this program.
“During my study at UI, I found many new things and cultures there. I got to know a different and very competitive system and learning. I learned many new lessons through this program, making me understand the characteristics between individuals when socializing,” said Vindi.She thanked the UMSU Rector and the MBKM team for helping to facilitate her during the PMM program.
