UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, released Bridge student-athletes to the 2024 ASEAN University Games International event in Surabaya. The release was held on Thursday (6/20) at the UMSU Meeting Room, Muchtar Basri Street No.3 Medan.
Also accompanying WR I Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum, WR III Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, Head of the Alumni and Student Affairs Bureau (Kabimawa) Dr. Radiman, M.Si and Deputy Dean III of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Dr. Hasrudy Tanjung, SE, M.Si.
Trian Clara Oktaviana is a bridge athlete and a UMSU student in the Faculty of Economics and Business, Accounting Study Program, 6th semester. She is the only contingent from North Sumatra representing to the 2024 ASEAN University Games in Surabaya, on June 26 – July 1, 2024.
Welcoming this achievement, UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani in his remarks, expressed his appreciation and pride,
“I feel proud, Alhamdulillah, there are UMSU sisters who will carry the good name of North Sumatra and Indonesia. Of course, the University is very appreciative. This achievement carves a good name to the world level, “said Prof. Agussani.
UMSU highly appreciates achievement and creativity and hopes that other UMSU students will also follow this prestigious event in the future.
“Express your gratitude to your parents, show you as a UMSU student who is ready to face various situations in the context of competition anywhere,” said the UMSU Rector .
Prof. Agussani also advised Clara to balance her achievements as an athlete and her academic achievements to become an extraordinary athlete.
Meanwhile, Clara felt very happy and proud that her achievements were supported and appreciated. On this occasion, she conveyed her process of qualifying for the 2024 Asean University Games, the selection was carried out in February-April for the mix category of 39 pairs.
“Alhamdulillah, I got the second rank out of 6 selected pairs,” said Clara.
Clara has known Bridge Sports since the 2nd grade of junior high school and first won a medal at the 2017 national championship in Siduarjo. She also won various Bridge sports awards such as 3 Medals in Batam 2018, 2nd place in Telkom 2019, 1st place in Aceh to 1st and 2nd place Howell Mayor Open Tournament in the Junior and Women’s Team categories.
Bridge is one of the card playing sports that requires foresight in seeing opportunities and strategizing that can hone the brains of the players.
The release was marked by the handover of ropes and vests.
