Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara students won first and third Place in the North Sumatra Provincial Sports Week PORPROVSU XI 2022, held in Medan City.
A student at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara named Yudha Arya Wiguna from the Law Study Program won first place in the Men’s Team Kata for Karate, and a student named Gilang Sutoyo from the Law Study Program won Third Place in the Wushu Sanda Sports Branch.
This activity is the beginning of the readiness of the North Sumatra contingent for the 2024 Aceh-North Sumatra PON. There are 32 regencies/cities and 3,004 athletes taking part in Porprovsu, and 17 sports that will be contested, namely drum band, karate, muaythai, pencak silat, petanque, football, taekwondo, boxing, table tennis, degree fighting, wushu sanda, weightlifting, athletics, bodybuilding, badminton, billiards, and volleyball.
Deputy Rector III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto was grateful that UMSU students had succeeded in achieving again in sports events. However, he hopes that the UMSU delegation in this event will not be easily satisfied and will remain consistent in practicing to be the best again in the next competition. “I hope this achievement will not end here and will continue to be consistent in similar competitions to achieve even better achievements in the next event,” Rudianto said.
