International class students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) participated in a five-day student exchange program theme’ yan State University ‘CSU), Philippines, with the theme’ Youth Future Thinking’. The program lasted from Wednesday to Sunday (14-18/8).
Anggita Sari Rangkuti from the Accounting Study Programme and Nazli Auliya from the Management Study Programme participated in this program. In addition to students, the program was attended by Eri Yanti Nasution, M.Ec., an International Class Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, who also gave a lecture to students and staff of the CSU Faculty of Economics and Business.
The CSU programme aims to improve critical thinking skills and the role of students in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The programme began with an opening ceremony attended by the University President of CSU, as well as student and lecturer delegates from UiTM Malaysia, University of Maldives, Bali Indonesia, and CSU students and teams.
The opening of the program was a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange. UMSU students showcased the Tor-Tor Dance from North Sumatra, inviting all participants, including the CSU University President, to join in the dance, fostering a sense of unity and shared experience.
Throughout the program, students were immersed in a diverse range of activities, both academic and non-acatheme’ From seminars with theForwards’outh Future Thinking Forwards to public lectures aligned with their study programs, to cultural tours and hands-on experiences like painting and cooking classes, the program wstudents’ed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the local culture.

On the last day, students were trained to dance a traditional Filipino dance, which they performed at the closing ceremony. This dance performance was the highlight of the closing ceremony, and UMSU students successfully presented the dance well.
