The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Unit of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) continues to enhance the quality of its programs by forming strategic partnerships with several major companies and national media. This program is part of the implementation of the MBKM Certified Internship and will take place on November 14-15, 2024, in Jakarta and Tangerang.
The Head of the MBKM Unit, Abdurrahman Zuhdi, M.I.Kom, along with the Secretary of the MBKM Unit, Nur Afifah, M.Pd, and Dr. Firahmi Rizky, M.Kom, who led the implementation of this program, mentioned several partners involved in the collaboration, namely Metro TV, Medcom.id, PT Smart Tbk, and Sekolah Ekspor. They have also signed the Implementation of Agreement as an output of the partnership activities carried out with those companies.
Through this program, UMSU students are given the opportunity to directly experience working in the industrial world. They will also gain insights from various sectors such as media, banking, and international trade.
The Vice Rector III of UMSU, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, stated that this partnership is a strategic step to prepare graduates to face the challenges of the global job market.
“The collaboration with major companies and national media is a response to the challenges of higher education in the 4.0 industrial era. We believe this experience will be very valuable for our students,” he said.
As many as 24 UMSU students are currently participating in an internship program in Jakarta. They are spread across Metro TV and Medcom.Id (6 students), PT Smart Tbk (13 students), and the Export School. (5 mahasiswa). This program also includes training, mentoring, and various activities that are expected to enhance the students’ potential.
For two days, students participated in various activities such as mentoring, training, and work practice. This is expected to help them develop skills and make a positive contribution to their future.
Meanwhile, the Head of Corporate and Communication at Medcom.id, Herfindo Satria Gading, welcomed this program. He hopes that the duration of the program can be extended so that its benefits can be even greater.
Then, the Head of Learning and Development at PT Smart Tbk, Dedi Mulyanto, stated that in 2025, more UMSU students will be absorbed into the Sinarmas foundation for research, teaching assistance, and other practitioner activities.
UMSU continues to be committed to supporting the achievement of the MBKM program goals through various strategic partnerships that enhance the quality of education and student competencies.
