The Faculty of Medicine of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FK UMSU) held a Judicium and Doctor’s Oath for the 40th Batch on Saturday (4/1) at the UMSU Faculty of Medicine Auditorium, Jl. Gedung Arca No. 53, Teladan, Medan.
A total of 28 students of the Doctor Professional Education Study Programme were officially sworn in as doctors after completing the entire series of education and examinations.
The event was attended by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, who expressed pride in the achievements of the graduates.
In his speech, Prof. Agussani highlighted the development of the Faculty of Medicine in Indonesia and he said, ‘I am sure that with the forging of Islamic doctors at UMSU, this will be a valuable provision for the newly sworn doctors. I am proud and grateful that the attitude and approach of UMSU doctor students received extraordinary appreciation.’
He also expressed his gratitude to parents who have entrusted their children to pursue education at UMSU.
Furthermore, the Rector of UMSU hopes that the graduates will not only succeed in the professional world but also be able to pass on their knowledge to the next generation.
‘We hope that later graduates can pass on their knowledge to juniors and strengthen the network of fellow UMSU Medical alumni. The existence of UMSU medicine was built by its alumni,’ he hoped.
Prof Agussani said that the journey of the Faculty of Medicine UMSU was not easy. Until now, since its establishment in 2008 until 2024, UMSU has graduated 926 doctors.
Then, the UMSU Rector also asked for support from alumni and parents regarding the construction of the UMSU integrated campus and the implementation of the Muhammadiyah Congress in 2027.
On this occasion, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine UMSU, Dr Siti Masliana Siregar Sp. T.H.T.B.K.L., Subsp.Rino (K) also added, ‘We are very proud of this achievement. Furthermore, the younger siblings who are my colleagues, will undergo an internship programme for one year before actually entering the real medical profession,’ she explained.
In addition, the Dean also revealed plans for changes in the doctor’s exam system that had been discussed with the Minister of Higher Education and the Minister of Health.
‘In the future, there will be a new exam simulation involving two platforms: the theory exam at the undergraduate level and the SCT exam at the professional level. Later, graduates will get certificates from institutions and professions, as is done in the OSC UKMPPD exam,’ he explained.
Furthermore, UMSU Medical Graduate, dr. Astriani Yulsyafrida was crowned who achieved a GPA of 4.00, in her speech, she expressed her gratitude and thanks to UMSU, lecturers, and parents.
‘Thank you to the Chancellor for facilitating us so that we can complete this study. It is an honour and pride for us to study at the Faculty of Medicine UMSU. This graduation is a joint achievement, and we will not stop learning even though we have graduated,’ he said emotionally.
The 40th Batch Judicium and Doctor’s Oath event marks the first step for graduates to devote themselves to the world of health. UMSU continues to be committed to producing Islamic doctors who are competent and have integrity to serve the community.

Also present were the Director of the RSUD, Drs. H. Amri Tambunan, dr. Hanif Fahri, M.M., M.KED (KJ) SP KJ, leaders of network hospitals and educational vehicles, Head of the Medan Search and Rescue Office, Chairperson and Secretary of the Medical Education Study Program, Professional Doctors, and Master of Biomedicine, as well as parents of graduates.
