The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FIKTI) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) held its second yudisium ceremony of 2025, attended by 180 graduates from two study programs—Information Systems and Information Technology—at the campus auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3 Medan, Friday (7/11).

The event was opened by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, S.H., M.Hum, who delivered an inspiring message about the challenges awaiting technology graduates in the digital era.

“Remember, the challenges ahead are no longer just bugs in the code, but bugs in society—poverty, inequality, and moral crises—that you must help address,” said Prof. Arifin.

He also emphasized the importance of ethics and morality in utilizing technological advancements.

“Knowledge without ethics becomes destructive. Technological intelligence must be balanced with moral intelligence,” he stressed.

Prof. Arifin closed his remarks by reminding graduates never to forget the dedication of their lecturers and parents.

The Dean of FIKTI UMSU, Dr. Al-Khowarizmi, S.Kom., M.Kom., expressed pride in the continuous academic achievements of the students.

“This yudisium is attended by 180 students, with a graduation rate of 80 percent. Both study programs—Information Systems and Information Technology—are now accredited ‘Very Good,’” he stated.

He also noted that FIKTI UMSU now has international students from Nigeria, and that the faculty has made history with students qualifying for the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS).

“FIKTI students are no longer only from Asia, but also from Africa. This proves that FIKTI is expanding globally,” he added.

Two students received the Best Graduate Award for this period:
• Muhammad Iqbal Faiz, S.Kom (Information Systems, GPA 3.84)
• Ahmad Alqodri Azizi Dalimunte, S.Kom (Information Technology, GPA 3.88)
Both received awards from the Vice Rector I and the Dean of FIKTI.

Representing the graduates, Muhammad Adam Gazali, S.Kom., delivered a heartfelt reflection on their academic journey.

“Achievement is not a race to be the best, but a journey of growth. We learn from every error, every struggle, and every prayer from our lecturers and parents,” said Adam, who is also a national award-winning student.

He encouraged his peers to use their knowledge as a means to serve society.

“This yudisium is not the end—it’s the final compile before we are deployed into the real world,” he said, greeted by enthusiastic applause.

The event concluded with a collective prayer and a photo session with faculty leaders, lecturers, and graduates. With renewed spirit, FIKTI UMSU graduates are ready to enter the professional world as a generation that is excellent, intelligent, and grounded in Islamic values.
