Six student teams from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) have successfully qualified for the 2025 National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS), which will take place on 23–28 November 2025 at Hasanuddin University (UNHAS) in Makassar.
This achievement places UMSU at the top of LLDIKTI Region I North Sumatra, first among private universities in North Sumatra, third among Muhammadiyah–’Aisyiyah universities nationwide, and twelfth among private universities at the national level. These accomplishments reaffirm UMSU’s consistent commitment to developing outstanding and competitive students in research and innovation.
Upon receiving the news, UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, expressed gratitude and congratulated the students who qualified for PIMNAS 2025.
“Alhamdulillah, UMSU is grateful and extends its congratulations for this outstanding student achievement at PIMNAS,” he said to reporters in Medan on Saturday (8/11).
He added that this achievement demonstrates UMSU’s commitment to fostering innovation and creativity in academics, interests, and talents. UMSU will continue to encourage and motivate talented students to present their ideas in prestigious competitions such as PIMNAS.
The Rector also hopes that this accomplishment will inspire other students to sharpen their abilities and confidently express innovative ideas that benefit society.
“I truly hope new talents will emerge with ideas, innovations, and works to showcase at PIMNAS or other national-level competitions,” Prof. Agussani said.
UMSU’s Vice Rector III, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., also shared his gratitude and appreciation for the students’ success.
“Alhamdulillah, the success of six UMSU teams advancing to PIMNAS 2025 is clear proof of our students’ quality and competitiveness at the national level. This achievement is not instant—it is the result of hard work, collaboration, and unwavering determination from the entire academic community,” he said.
The Head of UMSU’s Student Research and Creativity Center (SRCC), Dr. Fatimah Sari Siregar, S.Pd., M.Hum., explained that this accomplishment is the result of a continuous and collaborative development process.
“The success of these six UMSU teams in qualifying for PIMNAS 2025 cannot be separated from our structured mentoring system through SRCC. We focus on intensive guidance, strengthening ideas, and improving proposal quality until they reach the national stage,” she explained.
One of the PIMNAS participants from UMSU, Raisa Ariani from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, said she was proud to represent her university at the national level.
“We didn’t expect to get this far. The support from our supervisors and campus facilities greatly helped us throughout the research and project preparation process. This is more than just a competition—it is a valuable experience that proves UMSU students can compete at the national level,” Raisa said enthusiastically.
With this achievement, UMSU further strengthens its position as an excellent, high-performing, and nationally competitive university, reaffirming its reputation as one of the best Muhammadiyah universities in Indonesia.
PIMNAS is a prestigious scientific competition organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology. The six UMSU teams advancing to PIMNAS 2025 come from various faculties with diverse project themes. They are:
