The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and the Consul General of Malaysia in Medan held a cordial gathering and dinner meeting to discuss future strategic cooperation programs aimed at strengthening the collaboration that has already been established.
The event was hosted by the Consul General of Malaysia in Medan, Shahril Nizam bin Abdul Malek, on Wednesday evening (May 6). The special dinner meeting featured discussions on sustaining and enhancing bilateral cooperation following the inauguration of the UMSU Rector for the 2026–2030 term.
During the meeting, Shahril Nizam bin Abdul Malek congratulated the newly inaugurated Rector of UMSU while also outlining several strategic cooperation agendas with the university.
“Congratulations to UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd. We hope that in the future we can further strengthen our cooperation,” he stated.
Meanwhile, UMSU Rector Akrim expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and reaffirmed UMSU’s commitment to expanding collaboration in education and other sectors.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the UMSU Board of Trustees Agussani, UMSU Vice Rector III Rudianto, Chair of the OIC UMSU Rafieqah Nalar Rizky, Head of Public Relations and Protocol Bureau Ribut Priadi, as well as consulate staff members.

Also present were Arief S Trinugroho, former Regional Secretary of North Sumatra Province for the 2022–2024 period, and Head of the North Sumatra Provincial Library and Archives Office Desni Maharani Saragih.
