The Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) sent off 500 students to participate in the Community Service Program (KKN). The students were officially sent off by UMSU Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., on Saturday (July 18) at the FEB grounds on Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.

This year’s KKN send-off was part of the 48th Anniversary Celebration of FEB UMSU. Various KKN activities were integrated into the anniversary celebrations as a form of innovation and a new approach to community engagement.

Vice Rector III Dr. Rudianto congratulated FEB UMSU on its 48th anniversary. He described FEB as the largest faculty and one of the leading faculties within the university, highlighting its diverse and highly creative programs.

He also praised the academic achievements of FEB UMSU students, including the success of two students who advanced to the final round of the National Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres). He noted that the achievement was historic, as the students represented North Sumatra and marked the second time UMSU students had reached this stage.

Furthermore, he encouraged students to complete their KKN programs and make the most of the experience as an opportunity for personal and professional development. According to him, students should gain four key benefits from participating in KKN.

“First, KKN should help develop your mindset, expand your network, build your portfolio, and strengthen your soft skills and adaptability,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Dean of FEB UMSU Dr. Radiman, M.Si., said the 48th anniversary provided an opportunity to introduce various innovations aimed at improving the quality of KKN implementation.

He expressed hope that this year’s KKN would achieve greater progress and stronger outcomes. He emphasized that community service programs such as KKN should provide students with meaningful new experiences while generating a positive impact on both students and the communities they serve.

“We hope to achieve greater progress and stronger results. KKN should offer something different. Let us preserve and continue to build upon the good practices that are already in place,” he said.

The event was attended by heads of study programs within FEB UMSU, supervising lecturers (DPL), and KKN participants. The send-off was expected to encourage all FEB UMSU students participating in KKN to carry out their community service programs responsibly and with full commitment.
