The Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara has again made a world-class reputation by being included in THE Impact rankings 2024. The Times Higher Education or THE higher education ranking agency based in the UK, released a list of the best universities in the world in implementing SDGs or Sustainable Development Goals, Wednesday (12/6).
The list of the world’s 2,152 best universities was launched during the Global Development Sustainable Development Congress in Bangkok. UMSU was represented by Vice Rector III Rudianto, OIC Secretary Muhammad Shareza Hafiz and OIC administrator Agus Sani who attended the 4-day event.
In THE’s assessment, UMSU succeeded in implementing 4 SDGs programs well, namely Quality Education, Health, Gender Equality and Cooperation and Collaboration and was ranked 1500 + 1 out of more than 2000 campuses involved. In the Southeast Asia Region there are 222 campuses assessed by THE. From Indonesia, there are only 45 campuses included in the list of THE Impact rankings 2024. In North Sumatra, only USU and UMSU have this world-class ranking.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani MAP in his statement explained that UMSU since last year sent data on SDGs implementation activities to THE for the first time. Even though it was the first time participating in this program, he was grateful to have made it into the ranks of the world’s best campuses for SDGs implementation.
“Thank God for all our hard work. Even though this is the first time entering data, we can immediately enter the THE Impact world ranking list. This is an extraordinary achievement, and it will be our reference to achieve our vision and mission and play a role in building civilization for a better world,” he said.
This result completes UMSU’s reputation record at the international level. Previously, UMSU received a QS Rating of 4 stars, was ranked as the best PTS in ASEAN by AppliedHE, and received recognition from MQA Malaysia.
