Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara disbursed more than Rp1.9 billion for research funds and community service for internal lecturers.
The submission of research and community service funds for 165 proposals that passed the selection was marked by the signing of a contract held in the campus hall of Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan, Saturday (9/4).
The signing of the 2021/2022 research and community service contract was symbolically carried out by the Head of the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M), Syaiful Amri Saragih, SP, MSc, and representatives of the grant recipient lecturers, Muhammad Yani, ST, MT. They were also witnessing Vice Rector I, Prof.Dr. Muhammad Arifin, SH, MHum and Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, MSi.
Vice Rector I, Prof. Muhammad Arifin, SH, M.Hum, in his speech, said that the submission of research funds should motivate the production of academic works. “This research and community service program is important not for individual lecturers but also for adding university points,” he said.
He welcomed the trend of increasing research proposals submitted by lecturers. Data submitted by the Research Institute totaled more than 500 proposals, and 165 were deemed worthy of further research.
“Lecturer research has more value, especially for student learning. At least, there is something new to convey as a lesson,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of LP2M UMSU, Syaiful Amri Saragih, SP, MSc, revealed for this year, the research proposals for internal lecturers have followed the Dikti format and a blind review assessment system.
LPPM also increases its output target in the form of publications in Scopus and Sinta journals. For this reason, the university raises the ceiling for each research scheme to Rp. 7 million s/25 million.
