The University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) and University Putra Malaysia (UPM) are implementing the International Mobility Program (Mobility Program) for Postgraduate students on June 24-25 and July 2, 2022. This program is part of the implementation of international cooperation between the two leading universities.
Head of the Master of Communication Studies Program at UMSU Rahmanita Ginting, MSc., PhD said, the activities were packaged in the form of a Forum Discussion Group (FGD) and a virtual panel method by raising various themes related to communication and digital media in their utilization, challenges, opportunities and solutions. In organizations during the Covid-19 pandemic and post-pandemic in Indonesia and Malaysia.
According to Rahmanita, UMSU involved 20 Master of Communication Science students as speakers/panelists and active participants, and UPM involved S2 and S3 students. UPM students started the presentation of the material on the first day. Previously, the opening remarks were delivered by Associate Professor Dr. Nor Wahiza Abdul Wahat as Head of Department, Professional Development And Continuing Education, Faculty of Educational Studies, UPM. He said he was proud to be able to carry out various international programs with UMSU. This activity, which involves lecturers and students from both cognate countries, has been held for the umpteenth time.

Deputy Chancellor of UMSU Associate Prof. Rudianto, M.Si said that to carry out the development and study of the communication area, collaboration with the world academic community is needed, which has a variety of communication realities and is the object of communication. Of course, with this collaboration, he continued, academics can blend in and be fluid that was previously limited.
For this reason, because UMSU Master of Communication Science students are scientists, meeting each other in this international mobility program is necessary.
In addition, according to Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto this activity supports UMSU’s internationalization program. Moreover, UPM is a leading university in Malaysia and is in the top 100 of the world’s QStar version. Most importantly, he said that UMSU students did not stutter to meet scientists in various countries.
