The North Sumatra Muhammadiyah University Halal Center handed over free halal certificates to 55 MSMEs in North Sumatra.

The halal certificate was handed over directly by the Chancellor, represented by Vice Rector II, Prof.Dr. Akrim, MPd in the UMSU VIP Room Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan, Monday (3/4).
UMSU Chancellor Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, through Deputy Chancellor 2 UMSU Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd, stated that he was very proud and touched that UMSU could contribute to helping the government and MSMEs.
“We are grateful that today we can apply laws related to halal certificates and the Koran’s instructions to serve good halal food to the community,” he said.
He explained UMSU in assisting and issuing the management of halal certificates, did not show favoritism regardless of background. “This halal certificate facility and assistance is open to all MSMEs in need,” said Prof. Akrim emphasizing that this activity also supports the government’s halal certificate acceleration program.
Based on the report of the Head of the UMSU Halal Center, Dr. Ir. Desi Ardilla, MSi, 99 MSME halal certificates have been submitted and 55 free halal certificates that have been issued. This is related to the mandate the UMUS Halal Center by the Indonesian Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) and the Halal Product Assurance Organizing Agency (BPJPH), as an extension of the hand in processing halal certificates.
He explained this activity also supports the government’s program to make Indonesia the world’s halal center. Then, helping MSMEs regarding government regulations starting October 17, 2024, if MSMEs do not have a halal certificate, the product is prohibited from distribution.
Meanwhile, Budi Susanto, the Pempek BW business actor, and an Alumni of the UMSU Faculty of Law, were also grateful for the assistance in obtaining halal certificates for his business products.
“Thank you to the UMSU halal center, which has helped a lot. “Hopefully, in the future, the UMSU halal center can make more contributions to other business actors who have not had a halal certificate verified,” said Budi.
The UMSU Halal Center has a quota of 2,500 for processing halal certificates and 800 assistants in North Sumatra. So, it is open to all MSMEs who want to take care of halal certificates for free. In the future.
