The UN SGD Open Pedagogy Fellowship program, initiated by Montgomery College in the United States, has recognized the qualifications of four lecturers from Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara. The four lecturers are Cut Novita Srikandi from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Emni Purwoningsih from the Faculty of Medicine, M Shareza Hafiz from the Faculty of Economics and Business, and Khairunnisa from the Faculty of Islamic Religion. The Virtual Dean of the Montgomery College Campus, Dr. Shinta Hernandes, conveyed this in a virtual meeting on Tuesday (2/5). This program is a follow-up to UMSU’s participation in the US-Asean University Connections Initiative some time ago.
UMSU’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani MAP, responded positively to the success of four UMSU lecturers selected for the program. “This is very good for developing the capacity of lecturers and institutions, let alone collaborating with world-class educational institutions.” He said.
On that occasion, it was also conveyed that UMSU became the official partner college of Montgomery College in Asia for this program. Another partner campus is Binus University. While other participants in the UN SDG Open Pedagogy College program came from the United States, Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean.
Especially for participants from UMSU, they will collaborate with lecturers from Montgomery College and Binus University to develop Open Pedagogy learning. Through interactions utilizing information technology, this collaboration will also involve students on each campus to get to know innovations in the learning process in higher education that are more interesting and effective and in line with strengthening SDG, which are the priority programs for world development today.
