The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) commemorated the momentous graduation of 417 students from seven study programs in a grand judicial ceremony held at the campus auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri on Thursday (11/2). The event marked the maiden judicial ceremony for FKIP UMSU graduates.

Under the guidance of Vice Dean I, Dr. Dewi Kesuma Nasution, M.Hum, the decree was solemnly announced, honoring the graduates from various programs, including 45 from the Indonesian Language Study Program, 23 from Accounting Education, 68 from English Language Education, 40 from Mathematics Education, 44 from Counseling Guidance, 20 from Pancasila and Civics Education, and 177 from Primary School Teacher Education.
Reflecting on the significance of this inaugural event, UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, highlighted the remarkable achievements of the faculty and its distinguished alumni, acknowledging their pivotal role in elevating the university’s reputation through their exceptional contributions and participation in various academic competitions.

Emphasizing the historical trajectory of UMSU and the founding of FKIP, the Rector underscored the faculty’s resilience in navigating the challenges of changing governmental policies, portraying a vivid tapestry of FKIP’s transformative journey since its establishment in 1968.
“I believe it’s crucial to understand the historical journey of FKIP as a vital source of learning and to comprehend the progressive evolution of the faculty,” he remarked.
Meanwhile, FKIP Dean, Dra. Syamsuyurnita, M.Pd, encouraged the graduates to apply their acquired knowledge for the betterment of society, emphasizing that completing their degrees should be a stepping stone for continued learning and personal growth.
“Graduating with a bachelor’s degree does not signify the end of learning, but rather the commencement of a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, given the perpetual advancements in our world,” she advised.
The vibrant judicium, attended by distinguished deans and heads of study programs within FKIP, was graced with a captivating performance by the Surya Suara UMSU Band, adding a delightful touch to the celebratory atmosphere.
