The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (FISIP UMSU), held a graduation procession attended by 220 graduates of the 2018-2019 batch. The graduation was followed directly by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, on Friday (10/11) at the UMSU Auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
Exactly commemorating the day of heroes, the Fisip Umsu judicium also held a moment of silence to celebrate the services of Indonesian heroes. UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani, also an alumnus of FISIP UMSU in 1976 in the Social Welfare Science program, said he was very proud to be an alumnus.
“As a Fisip alumnus who is currently mandated to be the Rector, of course, I am present and prove that Fisip umsu is the best. I hope this will be a memory and history of carrying out graduations at every faculty level, “said Prof. Agussani in his speech.
He also told the history of Fisip Umsu in his time, when there were only 3 students and had 1 study program, namely IKS. In addition, Prof. Agussani also told the history of UMSU and described the FISIP building from time to time to the Dean of FISIP.
Prof. Agussani said that FISIP graduates who became alumni had worked as Chairman of BPM, Vice Rector III, Social Expert Staff, Major General, and Navy Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel.
In this procession, the Dean of FISIP UMSU awarded outstanding graduate students, namely PIMNAS Champions, Theme Song Cover winners, PKM Hiba recipients, Hiba PPK Ormawa, and Certified Internships to Virtual Student Exchange Asia Taiwan.
Dean of FISIP UMSU, Dr. Arifin Saleh, S.Sos, MSP, in his remarks, advised graduates to continue to improve their soft skills to succeed.
“Soft skills are essential and it is only in us; please develop honesty; discipline is part of soft skills. We are sure that if it is mastered, then be sure success is in hand, “said the Dean of Fisip Umsu.
Finally, a representative of Fisip Umsu graduates, Sundari, a Social Welfare graduate, conveyed her impressions during her 4 years as a student and was given valuable opportunities.
“For me, these 4 years a precious moment for me because studying here can be allowed to take part in the MBKM program and can study outside the city. She is participating in the PHBD program with friends in IMM. This is not the end but the first step towards a bright future,” said Sundari.
The judicium was attended by all deans and study program leaders within the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UMSU.
