Around 30 students from SMA Negeri 1 Pekanbaru, along with three accompanying teachers, chose to visit Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in the context of a study tour on Tuesday (23/1) at the UMSU VIP Room on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
The presence of the students was warmly welcomed by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by WR III UMSU Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, WR I UMSU Prof. Muhammad Arifin Gultom, M.Hum and the Deans of Faculties throughout UMSU.
On this occasion, Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, gave a brief motive regarding the importance of continuing education and success in college. He said that in choosing a college, students need to trace their track record, university accreditation, and MBKM activities.
“Apart from being accredited superior, Alhamdulillah UMSU has also received four stars from QS Star Ranking, which is recognized by MQA Malaysia, BANPT,, and the Ministry of Education and Culture,” said Rudianto.
WR III explained the development of UMSU, which is filled with achievements every year.
“Being a UMSU student is not only successful in the academic field but also in the interests of talent, creativity, and reasoning as well as Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan,” he continued.
He motivated the students by saying that nowadays, being bright is not enough but must have more value. UMSU is very committed to encouraging its students to succeed in various fields besides academics.
“UMSU has won Pilmapers for six consecutive years and is active in the Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM) and IISMA programs. So, take advantage of this as a way for your ananda to reach the future,” said Rudianto enthusiastically.
Listening to this information, the teacher representative from SMA N 1 Pekanbaru, H. Tamsir, S.Pd, said that the average student who attended this visit already had an interest in continuing their education at UMSU.
“We from Pekanbaru to North Sumatra just want to come here to UMSU, nothing else. I think the UMSU program is excellent, and our children who graduated and are still studying here also explained that the program at UMSU is indeed good,” said Tamsir.
In addition to the program, Tamsir also said that the facilities and achievements at UMSU were excellent for students to continue their education.
This statement was reinforced by Nazwa, one of the SMA N 1 Pekanbaru students interested in entering UMSU. She stated that she wanted to study at UMSU because because of its superior accreditation and many student activities.
“Many student achievements have been developed and produced many of the best graduates. There is an exchange of overseas students, which is one of the pluses and attractions for me,” said Nazwa.
The visit was closed with a group photo,, and all SMA N 1 Pekanbaru students were invited to tour UMSU facilities and broadcast on UMSU radio with accompanying teachers.
