Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) made a proud achievement at the 37th National Student Science Week (PIMNAS), which took place from 15 to 18 October at Airlangga University, Saturday (19/10).
In this competition, UMSU won two medals, one silver medal, and one favorite category medal.
This success also made UMSU the only private campus in North Sumatra to win medals at this prestigious national event.
UMSU Rector, Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.AP, expressed his congratulations and felt proud of students who had successfully competed with the best campuses in Indonesia.
‘UMSU will continue to encourage students who have the talent to convey their ideas in prestigious competitions such as this PIMNAS,’ said Prof. Agussani.
In addition, the Rector hopes that this achievement will continue to encourage UMSU students to convey innovative ideas that benefit society.
‘Of course, I hope that new talents will emerge with ideas and ideas that are not only able to compete and win medals at PIMNAS events or other national level events but hopefully, the ideas and ideas of innovation developed can benefit the people of Indonesia and face the challenges of competition in the era of increasing globalization,’ continued Prof. Agussani.
On this occasion, Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation, Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto, M.Si, also expressed his pride in the achievements of UMSU students who maintained the tradition of winning medals at PIMNAS.
Not only that, WR III also said that this year’s medal acquisition was very special.
‘There is something special about this year’s medal. So far, our PIMNAS medal relies on the poster branch; thank God this year we got it from the best presentation,’ said WR III.
The medals won by UMSU are the silver medal by the team chaired by Angga Pratama with an innovative work entitled ‘HydrilFeed: Broiler Chicken Feed Made from Hydrilla Verticillata and Nutritious Tofu Dregs: A Solution to Prevent Stunting Syndrome‘. The team consisted of Putri Mawadah, Danil Satria Dasopang, Miranda Afifah Anggraini, and Nanda Arif Permana, with supervisor Salsabila, S.P., M.P..
Meanwhile, the favorite category medal was won by the team led by Rezi Widyan Ananta with the project ‘Briqball: Briquette Ball Innovation from Coconut Shell Residue (Biochar) and Sugarcane Dregs that is Pollution Free and Biodegradable.’ The team consisted of Rozan, Satyo Hakim, Deviana Savitra, Maudila Isnaini, and Aditya Zikry Syahputra, also under the guidance of Salsabila, S.P., M.P.
The Chairperson of the UMSU Student Research and Creativity Centre (SRCC), Fatimah Sari Siregar, S.Pd., M.Hum, revealed that this success was inseparable from the careful preparation process. He said that SRCC continues to monitor and guide students at every stage they go through.
‘We believe that the preparation process undertaken by the team is very strict and structured. Various maximum efforts are made to ensure that every aspect of the competition is carefully prepared so that the expected results are truly maximum at PIMNAS 2024.’ he said.
The announcement of the medals was held at the closing ceremony of the 37th PIMNAS, which was attended by various figures, including the Secretary General of Kemendikbudristek, Ir. Suharti, MA, Ph.D., and the Chairperson of the Indonesian Talent Development Centre, Chairperson of the national achievement centre, Dr. Maria Veronica Irene Herdjiono, M.Si, vice rectors for student affairs, directors of student affairs and the best students participating in the 37th PIMNAS throughout Indonesia.
The closing began with an agenda of student affairs workshops. On this occasion, it was also agreed and decided that Hasanudin University Makassar would host the 38th PIMNAS. Then, after that, activities were officially closed, and the 37th PIMNAS medalists were announced.
On this occasion, UMSU sent a number of delegates, including the Vice Rector III for Student Affairs, Alumni and Cooperation, and Assoc. Prof. Dr Rudianto, M.Si, Head of Student Affairs Bureau, Dr. Rdiman, S.E., M.Si, Vice Dean III, Head of BIMAWA. BIMAWA Reasoning, as well as all accompanying lecturers and UMSU officials.
