The Senator from North Sumatra, Dr. H. Dedi Iskandar Batubara, S.Sos., SH., MH., M.Sp., who is also the Chairman of Alwashliyah North Sumatra, expressed his readiness to participate in supporting the successful implementation of the 49th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Muktamar in North Sumatra.
“As part of the people of North Sumatra, I am certainly proud to be the host for this grand event of the Muhammadiyah Muktamar in 2027. This event will undoubtedly make North Sumatra the center of attention, attracting Muhammadiyah members from all over Indonesia and the world,” he said during his speech ahead of a joint iftar at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) on Monday (March 17).
According to Dedi Iskandar Batubara, as the host of the Muhammadiyah Muktamar event, he and his team will encourage support from all parties, including the regional government, to collaborate with the Muktamar organizing committee in ensuring the success of the event. “I am confident that under the leadership of UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani, who is the chairman of the committee, the Muktamar will be a success,” he said.
In his speech, he also discussed the topic of the revelation of the Qur’an.
“The Qur’an is recited, not created. Because if it were created, it would become a creature,” he explained.
Additionally, he linked the values of religion to the upcoming Muhammadiyah Muktamar.
“Religion is advice, and advice can come from anywhere. Even during the 2027 Muhammadiyah Muktamar, we can receive a lot of advice. This is a large gathering, so there are rules in serving guests well,” he added.
Earlier, UMSU Rector Prof. Agussani appreciated the iftar event held in conjunction with the 53rd anniversary of FISIP. He emphasized the importance of collaboration and campus development.
“Thank you to FISIP UMSU for organizing this iftar event. FISIP was founded in 1972, and I thank you for inviting Dedi Iskandar, who is currently not only a member of the DPD RI but also the Chairman of Al-Washliyah North Sumatra. We need to continue collaborating, as we hope that Dedi can provide motivation,” said the Rector.
He also shared updates on the development of the UMSU Integrated Campus and the plans for the roof construction, which will begin after Eid.
“I would like to inform you, Dedi Iskandar, that UMSU has been appointed as the organizing committee for the Muktamar. We will proceed with the development of the integrated campus. After Eid, we will carry out cleaning and roof construction,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Dean of FISIP UMSU, Dr. Arifin Saleh, S.Sos, M.SP, stressed that FISIP UMSU will continue to contribute to various achievements and social activities.
