The Faculty of Engineering (FATEK) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) officially conferred the graduation status (yudisium) to 85 students for the first period of 2025. The ceremony took place in person at the UMSU Faculty of Economics and Business Auditorium, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan, on Saturday (July 5).
The graduates came from three study programs: Civil Engineering (26 graduates), Electrical Engineering (11 graduates), and Mechanical Engineering (48 graduates).
On this occasion, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP shared a brief reflection on UMSU’s journey, from its humble beginnings on Jalan Demak to its current campus.
He noted that UMSU continues to make significant progress — not only achieving the highest accreditation status and international recognition, but also planning the establishment of a fourth campus in Sempali by 2027. This new campus will serve as the center for the upcoming Muhammadiyah Congress and symbolize the university’s growth.
During the ceremony, the rector also extended his congratulations and hopes to the engineering graduates.
“On behalf of the university leadership, I congratulate you on earning your degree. Uphold the good name of your alma mater wherever you go. Be proud alumni and continue to contribute to UMSU,” said Prof. Agussani.
He expressed his hope that the graduates would go on to become experts in engineering, contributing across Indonesia and even abroad.
Meanwhile, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Munawar Alfansuri, S.T., M.T., in his address, reflected on the faculty’s long journey since its inception. He recalled the early days when the Faculty of Engineering shared facilities with the Faculty of Agriculture, before finally having its own modern building.
“The construction of the dedicated engineering building is proof of the university’s strong support for our faculty. As the leadership team, we are committed to continuously improving facilities to support our students’ learning and development,” the Dean stated.
He also highlighted the notable achievements of engineering students, including winning first place at the 2024 Innovillage competition. He encouraged the graduates to pursue successful careers in the engineering field and invited others to join the Faculty of Engineering at UMSU to help it grow even stronger.

The ceremony concluded with the symbolic awarding of Yudisium Decrees to the top graduates:
-
Rahmat Iqbal Syahputra (Mechanical Engineering),
-
Doni Irsan (Electrical Engineering), and
-
Sri Anggini Nasution (Civil Engineering).
