The Rector of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), Prof. Dr. Agussani, M.A.P., presented updates on the development of Campus IV, which will also serve as the venue for the 49th Muhammadiyah and Aisyiyah Congress in Medan in 2027. The presentation was delivered during a Ramadan religious gathering organized by the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership of North Sumatra at the Muhammadiyah Modern Islamic Boarding School in Kualamadu, Langkat, on Saturday–Sunday (March 7–8).
As Rector and Chairman of the Congress Reception Committee, Prof. Agussani expressed gratitude that the construction of the two main congress venues is progressing according to plan. The Auditorium Berkemajuan has reached 38 percent completion, while the Walidah Sport Hall stands at 75 percent.
He emphasized that strong collaboration and collective effort have been key factors behind the steady progress. “Many people have asked how the construction could proceed so quickly,” he noted.
The organizing committee hopes to highlight local potential and cultural strengths as part of welcoming the large number of participants expected at the congress. “Regional icons and local wisdom can contribute to elevating the profile of Muhammadiyah in North Sumatra,” he explained.

In addition, the Chairman of the Reception Committee encouraged local Muhammadiyah branches, particularly in surrounding areas, to strengthen communication and collaboration with local governments. He noted that in previous engagements with stakeholders, the committee has actively promoted regional potential, including tourism, social initiatives, arts, local cuisine, and handicrafts.
According to Prof. Agussani, local governments across North Sumatra have recognized the congress as a major event, with several already expressing their support.
He further explained that, in addition to the two main venues, a mosque with a capacity of 2,000 worshippers is currently under construction. The two-story mosque, with an estimated cost of around Rp 17 billion, has been named the K.H. Ahmad Dahlan Mosque.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the mosque was carried out by the Chairman of Muhammadiyah’s Central Executive Board, Muhadjir Effendy, along with the Board of Directors of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI).
The event was attended by approximately 200 participants, including representatives from the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership, affiliated organizations at the regional level, Muhammadiyah district branches from surrounding areas such as Langkat, Binjai, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai, Tebing Tinggi, and Pematang Siantar, as well as members of various councils and institutions across North Sumatra.
