According to the Rector, FAI’s achievements reflect the continuous improvement in educational quality and its ability to respond to global challenges. He highlighted the graduates’ foreign language proficiency as evidence of their readiness to compete internationally.
“One clear indication of the faculty’s excellence is what we witnessed today, when our graduates delivered their impressions and reflections in English with confidence,” he remarked.
Prof. Akrim added that the faculty’s success is demonstrated through measurable achievements across various performance indicators.
“All of these indicators clearly demonstrate the remarkable progress achieved by the Faculty of Islamic Studies,” he said.
He further emphasized that the success of a faculty should not be measured solely by the number of graduates, but by the quality of graduates who are prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Studies, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zailani, M.A., presented the faculty’s major achievements and strategic developments.
He explained that four of the faculty’s six academic programs have earned the highest national accreditation (“Excellent”), reflecting the faculty’s commitment to academic quality.
According to him, FAI UMSU continues to strengthen its internationalization agenda through various initiatives, including visiting lecturer programs, international practitioner lectures, international community service (KKN), and professional competency certification.

“Every semester, each academic program hosts visiting lecturers as part of our commitment to providing international learning experiences,” he explained.
The faculty’s international collaborations involve institutions from Australia, Malaysia, Thailand, Oman, Yemen, and Japan.
In addition to academic excellence, FAI UMSU actively promotes community engagement through its Campus Impact Education Volunteers Program, enabling students to apply their knowledge directly in schools and local communities.
“Our students are not confined to classrooms. They actively engage with schools and communities, applying what they have learned to create meaningful social impact,” Dr. Zailani emphasized.
The faculty has also established partnerships with leading financial institutions, including Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI), Bank Muamalat, Bank Sumut Syariah, and Bank Danamon, to provide students with certified internship opportunities and practical industry experience.
In his address, Prof. Dr. H. Abdullah, M.Si., Deputy Coordinator of Kopertais Region IX North Sumatra, praised FAI UMSU as one of the leading faculties of Islamic studies among private higher education institutions in the region.

The ceremony concluded with a spirit of optimism shared by the entire academic community. The graduates are expected to become not only academically competent professionals, but also individuals with strong Islamic values, professional excellence, and global competitiveness—reflecting UMSU’s vision of becoming an excellent, intelligent, trustworthy, and world-class university.
