The CEO of BRI Medan, John Sarjono, paid a visit to Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) to strengthen the strategic partnership that has been ongoing for the past three years. The meeting took place on Wednesday (16/7) in the VIP Room of UMSU, located at Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3, Medan.
This visit marked an important moment to reinforce collaboration, particularly in supporting various campus services and the development of the Muktamar 2027 venue at UMSU’s Campus IV in Sampali, Percut Sei Tuan.
CEO of BRI Medan, Sarjono, expressed his appreciation for the ongoing partnership and his commitment to improving banking services within the UMSU environment.
“Alhamdulillah, before working with UMSU, we had already collaborated with PP Muhammadiyah, including providing integrated tuition payment systems. We aim to continue delivering value to UMSU,” he said.
Sarjono stated that BRI is ready to support the university’s needs and contribute to the success of the Muhammadiyah Congress (Muktamar) in 2027. “I’ve heard about the ongoing development plans for the Muktamar venue. Perhaps there will be further discussions in the future regarding business-to-business cooperation. We also want to learn more from the UMSU Rector and Muhammadiyah,” he added.
Previously, UMSU Rector Dr. Agussani, MAP warmly welcomed the visit.
“Welcome, Sir. This is truly a joyful occasion for us. The partnership between UMSU and BRI started from the synergy between PP Muhammadiyah and Muhammadiyah hospitals, which later expanded to include UMSU. This is clear proof that banking involvement at UMSU has been going well and directly benefits students,” he stated.
Prof. Agussani also explained that UMSU is currently in the process of building facilities for hosting the Muhammadiyah Congress (Muktamar).

“We are developing this Muktamar venue independently, in collaboration with UMY. If PP Muhammadiyah establishes strategic partnerships, we are certainly ready and would prioritize BRI,” he added.
According to the Rector, the growth of higher education institutions greatly depends on good management, including partnerships with banking institutions. “We are also open to broader discussions and collaboration. We have many facilities that can be mutually utilized to advance the campus and improve student services,” Agussani concluded.

Meanwhile, UMSU Vice Rector II emphasized the crucial role of BRI in supporting campus services. “The cooperation with BRI has been very helpful, particularly in financial services, which are now more easily accessible to both students and the academic community,” he said.

Also in attendance were UMSU bureau heads, Regional Funding & Retail Transaction Banking Head Irawan Cahyo Nugroho, Funding and Retail Transaction Department Head Wisnu Iswahyudi, BRI Medan Thamrin Branch Office Head Tarmizi, Funding and Transaction Manager Rini Astuti Nasution, and Relationship Manager for Funding and Transaction Business, Andri Kurniawan.
This visit further solidified the commitment between BRI and UMSU to build a better campus service ecosystem and to support Muhammadiyah’s major future programs.
