BTPN Syariah Medan Branch visited Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) to explore stronger synergy and collaboration in impactful campus internship programs and community empowerment initiatives. The visit took place on Tuesday (July 29) at the UMSU VIP Room, Jalan Muchtar Basri No. 3, Medan.
The delegation was warmly welcomed by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by Vice Rector I, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arifin, M.Hum. Discussions focused on opportunities for collaboration in education, student internships, and banking services provided by BTPN Syariah Medan.
On this occasion, BTPN Syariah Brand Manager, Fairus Fuad Abdad, reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to building tangible partnerships with UMSU, following the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) previously signed between BTPN Syariah and Muhammadiyah Central Board.
“We want to deepen our synergy with UMSU. Since BTPN Syariah has already signed an MoU with Muhammadiyah Central Board, in its implementation we will prioritize students from Muhammadiyah universities to participate in both impactful internship programs and independent internships, which are also aligned with the Ministry of Education and Culture,” Fairus explained.
He added that UMSU students would also have access to recruitment processes and job fairs facilitated directly by BTPN Syariah. The bank further expressed readiness to provide on-campus account opening services and other financial facilities tailored to the needs of the academic community.
Meanwhile, BTPN Syariah Business Coach, Frangky Anto, elaborated on the internship mechanism and the bank’s financing focus.
“For independent internships, students may apply directly at the Medan branch of BTPN Syariah, and the applications will be processed by our headquarters. Our focus is on the ultra-micro segment, providing financing for communities who wish to start a business from scratch,” said Frangky.
He also highlighted that BTPN Syariah operates 128 residences across three regions in North Sumatra to support employee operations, including housing and other facilities. Internship participants will be placed accordingly within these regions.
Representing UMSU, Vice Rector I Prof. Arifin expressed appreciation for the visit and introduced the university’s latest developments, including the upcoming integrated campus project, expected to be completed in 2027.
“We warmly welcome your visit. God willing, our integrated campus will be completed by 2027, fully funded independently without third-party involvement. May this process be made smooth and successful,” he said.
He further hoped for a strong synergy between UMSU and BTPN Syariah that would bring mutual benefits to both parties.
The meeting is expected to mark the beginning of sustainable collaboration between the academic sector and the Islamic banking industry in empowering young generations and society.
The session was attended by Fairus (Brand Manager), Frangky Anto (Business Coach), and Sarah (Relationship Manager) from BTPN Syariah. From UMSU, participants included Vice Rector I, representatives from the General Bureau, Finance Bureau, Office of International Cooperation, and other staff members.
