A total of 1,300 UMSU alumni and members of the public participated in UMSU Graduate Day 2025. This event served as a mini job fair and career counseling platform, held just two days after the graduation ceremony on July 8–9, 2025. It connected graduates directly with leading partner companies collaborating with UMSU, such as Bank BRI, Bank Mandiri, BTPN Syariah, BFI Finance, Indofood CBP, and the recruitment platform Atma.
In his remarks, UMSU Vice Rector III, Dr. Rudianto, M.Si., emphasized the importance of graduates being prepared to face global challenges after completing their studies.
“Just two days ago, on July 8–9, we held our graduation ceremony, conferring degrees on 1,940 alumni from all faculties. Of course, it was a moment of joy for families and friends. But right after that comes the real challenge: can our graduates, with a UMSU diploma in hand, start a career in their field, become entrepreneurs, or be absorbed by the industry? Because today’s job market is highly competitive,” he said.
Dr. Rudianto further highlighted three essential aspects graduates must possess to remain competitive: new skills, international experience, and networking.
“What brings students to campus is the pursuit of something new—new skills. If you only have average abilities, competing will be more difficult. In the AI era, these skills must be mastered,” he emphasized.
“Second is international experience. Basic capabilities are important because they differentiate you in the job market. And third is networking, which we are fostering today through Graduate Day,” he added.
This year’s UMSU Graduate Day was considered particularly special because it was held immediately after graduation and was also open to participants from outside the university.
“Not many campuses are willing to work this hard to provide such access. Out there, many are confused about how to find jobs. So this opportunity must be used to its fullest potential,” said Rudianto.
Previously, the Chair of the Graduate Day 2025 Committee, Abdurrahman Zuhdi, S.I.Kom, M.I.Kom, representing the Career Development and Alumni Center (CDAC) of UMSU, stated that participant enthusiasm was very high.
“We received 1,300 registrations through the form we had opened, not including those who came directly on the day. The event was held in two locations—the Auditorium of the Faculty of Economics and Business and the Agriculture Auditorium,” he explained.
According to him, Graduate Day was not just a hiring event or mini job fair, but also a platform for career preparation. CDAC UMSU also provided portfolio consulting and career coaching services.
The opening session also included a spiritual talk that provided motivation from a faith-based perspective, connecting career pursuit with blessings in the hereafter.
“Imagine having a career and doing business not only to succeed in this world but also to attain salvation in the afterlife. This is the trade that Allah has promised,” the speaker concluded, expressing hope that participants would achieve success both professionally and spiritually.

UMSU Graduate Day 2025 is expected to be a concrete first step for graduates to enter the professional world with full readiness—equipped with the right skills, mindset, and Islamic values that form the core foundation of UMSU.
