The Chairwoman of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah (PP ‘Aisyiyah), Dr. Apt. Salmah Orbayinah, M.Kes., along with other central board leaders, reviewed the progress of the construction of the auditorium and sports hall at the Integrated Campus of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) in Saintis Village, Percut Sei Tuan District, Deli Serdang Regency, on Sunday (January 11).

The visit by the Chairwoman and her delegation, accompanied by the Regional Board of ‘Aisyiyah North Sumatra and several District Board members, was welcomed by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, along with university officials. During the visit, Dr. Salmah Orbayinah directly observed the ongoing construction of the state-of-the-art auditorium and the Walidah Sports Hall, which are planned to serve as venues for the 49th Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah Congress in 2027.

“This magnificent building can become an icon of education for UMSU and Deli Serdang Regency,” said Dr. Salmah.

She explained that the auditorium, with a capacity of 7,000 seats, and the sports hall, accommodating up to 3,000 people, will not only serve as symbols of education and dakwah for Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah but will also bring positive impacts to the surrounding community. The presence of the UMSU Integrated Campus, featuring these iconic buildings, is expected to attract visitors and stimulate the local economy.

“I believe the UMSU Integrated Campus can be developed into an educational tourism destination, especially with its fruit gardens and integrated food supply chain ecosystem, which are quite appealing,” she explained.

On the occasion, the Chairwoman also emphasized that UMSU’s initiatives serve as a field of charity and dakwah that will lead to broader benefits. The development of the integrated campus is expected to encourage more people to pursue higher education at UMSU and generate widespread positive impacts on society.

She expressed hope that the auditorium and sports hall would be completed on schedule and that future leaders of Muhammadiyah and Indonesia would emerge from these facilities.

Meanwhile, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP stated that the visit of the Chairwoman of PP ‘Aisyiyah provided special motivation for UMSU to complete the construction of the auditorium and sports hall, which will later be used as congress venues.

He explained that construction progress has currently reached approximately 33 percent for the auditorium and around 45 percent for the Walidah Sports Hall. “The construction process has been running smoothly, and hopefully it will be completed on time,” he said.

Furthermore, the Rector noted that the integrated campus also includes the development of an SPPG–MBG kitchen capable of serving 1,200 students daily. The MBG kitchen is supported by a food supply chain ecosystem consisting of agricultural land, gardens, livestock facilities, and fish ponds.

“To strengthen the food ecosystem, UMSU is also building a bread factory and a refillable drinking water facility, which can also support the Free Nutritious Meals Program,” he added.

During the visit, in addition to reviewing the construction progress of the auditorium and sports hall, the Chairwoman also inspected the MBG kitchen and agricultural land managed by students.

Those in attendance included the Chair of PPA Dr. Rohimi Zam Zam, S.Psi., S.H., M.Pd.; the Treasurer General of PP ‘Aisyiyah, who also serves as Special Staff to the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Rita Pranawati, S.S., M.A.; the Chair of LLHPB PP ‘Aisyiyah and member of the BNPB Advisory Board, Rahmawati Husein, Ph.D.; UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP and his staff; Chair of PWA North Sumatra Dr. Nur Rahmah Amini, M.Ag. and her team; Treasurer of PWM North Sumatra Prof. Dr. Muhammad Qorib, M.A.; and Deputy Secretary of PWM North Sumatra Drs. Mutholib, M.M.
