Chairman of the Deli Serdang Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Zakky Shahri, S.H., has expressed full support for the 49th Muhammadiyah Congress scheduled to be held in 2027. This statement was made during an official visit by UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP and his delegation to the DPRD office in Lubuk Pakam on Monday (May 5).
The warm and productive meeting was also attended by DPRD Deputy Speaker III H. Hamdani Syahputra, S.Sos, UMSU Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd, Chairman of the UMSU Board of Trustees Dr. H. Bahril Datuk, M.M, faculty leaders across UMSU, and bureau heads.
Chairman Zakky Shahri warmly welcomed the UMSU leadership delegation and stated that the DPRD is ready to provide concrete support for every stage and requirement involved in organizing the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress.
“We are fully supportive of Muhammadiyah’s efforts in preparing for the Congress. We had in-depth discussions on how best to assist, facilitate, and ensure the success of the 49th Congress. God willing, all levels of the DPRD will offer support—whether in infrastructure, security, or cross-sector program collaboration,” said Zakky.
As an UMSU alumnus himself, Zakky also highlighted the many potential areas of collaboration between UMSU and the Deli Serdang Regency Government, including MSME development, agriculture programs, and waste bank initiatives.
“These discussions will continue as we explore actionable cooperation between UMSU and the local government,” he added.
Earlier in the meeting, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP emphasized that the visit was part of ongoing efforts to consolidate and synergize with regional stakeholders to ensure the success of the 2027 Muhammadiyah Congress.
“Alhamdulillah, following the guidance of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, UMSU continues to strengthen collaboration with local governments wherever it operates. Today’s warm welcome by the DPRD Deli Serdang is an honor for us. We have presented updates on the preparations, including the construction of the main auditorium and various infrastructure projects,” said Agussani.
He further explained that the 49th Muhammadiyah Congress, which is expected to attract over one million participants, will significantly contribute to the development of not only Deli Serdang but also North Sumatra as a whole, particularly in areas such as economic growth, tourism, and other key sectors.
UMSU has already partnered with the Regent of Deli Serdang, the Medan Industrial Area (KIM), and Kuala Namu International Airport to support the congress.

Beyond preparations for the Congress, UMSU Vice Rector II Prof. Dr. Akrim, M.Pd also outlined further collaboration opportunities including the development of Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) programs, support for national downstreaming initiatives, and joint implementation of Community Service and Field Work Practice (PKL) programs.
Additionally, the Dean of UMSU’s Faculty of Agriculture, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dafni Mawar Tarigan, expressed readiness to mobilize faculty and students to support agricultural development initiatives in Deli Serdang.

This visit underscores a strong spirit of institutional collaboration aimed at ensuring the success of the 49th Muhammadiyah Congress while delivering broader benefits to the public. UMSU and the Deli Serdang DPRD agreed to maintain close communication and foster intensive cooperation going forward.
