Medan, a lecturer at Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU), conducted the Community Partnership Program (PKM) training for the Kahoot and Quizziz applications as an alternative solution as a learning evaluation medium and the application is also very suitable in nuanced hybrid learning.
Dewi Kesuma Nasution chaired the PKM activity and the Deputy Dean I of FKIP UMSU, consisting of Yayuk Hayulina Manurung and Mutia Arda.
“On Thursday, June 2, 2022, a digital assessment training activity based on Kahoot and Quizizz in online learning will be held for teachers of SMP Muhammadiyah 61 Medan,” Dewi said, Friday (17/6).
In the current era of modern technology, the learning or evaluation process is often considered ineffective. It tends to be subjective when the teacher gives an assessment, with the teacher not only educating students but the teacher is also required to evaluate the students’ habits in the evaluation process.
The teacher only gives an answer sheet that students must fill in. After the test process is complete, the teacher must correct the student’s answer sheet usually, it becomes a polemic when the teacher has to fix the answer sheet one by one and it takes a long time to fix it.
This process becomes an obstacle to seeing the results of student evaluations. By using technology, it is possible to help the development and progress of student learning outcomes.
To answer these challenges, the presence of the Kahoot and Quizziz applications are alternative solutions as learning evaluation media and the application is also very suitable for hybrid learning. With the combination of offline and online education, teachers must also be equipped with skills in using digital assessment.
Nurabaya as the Head of SMP Muhammadiyah 61 Medan, welcomed this training activity because this training was a continuation of the movement that had been carried out previously by the same PKM TEAM, namely training on the use of the Zoom application as an online learning medium on 21-22 June 2021.
“Teachers need to keep updating their teaching skills from time to time, and in this case digital assessment. I hope that teacher participation in this training activity can be applied to assessing student learning outcomes through the Kahoot and Quizizz applications,” he said.
