Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara (UMSU) received a comparative study visit from Malaysia’s Institut Pendidikan Guru (IPG) Temenggong Ibrahim. Held, Monday (5/15) at the Hall of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education UMSU, Muchtar Basri Street No. 3 Medan.
The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at FKIP UMSU warmly welcomed a recent visit from IPG Malaysia as part of an international collaboration. Dean Syamsuyurnita, M.Pd, was pleased to exchange information on the role of student organizations at both institutes. During the visit, Dra. Syamsuyurnita provided an overview of FKIP, which offers eight study programs, three of which have earned superior accreditation, including accounting education, Indonesian language education, and English education. The Dean expressed gratitude for the visit and hoped that the exchange of information could lead to potential collaborations, including student exchange programs.

Welcoming this, Muhd Asyraf Fahmi Bin Mustafa as the advisor to the Jawatankuasa Representative of Students (JPP) IPG Malaysia, said that his visit was in the context of carrying out their 6th program, namely building the quality of students, so that UMSU was the choice of the comparative study.
“I think conducting student exchanges in the future is a good idea and can be a collaboration,” said Asyraf.
Furthermore, Muhammad Asif Bin Mohd Fahmi as a representative of the student organization who is a member of the Jawatankuasa Perwakilan Pelajar (JPP) IPG Malaysia, shared information regarding their role as a student organization on campus. He explained that JPP has five programs, established for the sake of change, empowering students, students for students, and impactful networks to student welfare, carried out as social care and goodwill.
Meanwhile, FKIP UMSU, through Dr. Mandra, also shared that at UMSU, the role of student organizations also runs and has a significant impact.
“Here, each study program has a student organization which is a forum for improving soft skills. I think the program run by student organizations at UMSU is not much different from IPG Malaysia, “said Dr. Mandra.
Not only sharing information, student organizations from FKIP UMSU and PPJ IPG Malaysia also discussed the system and role of their organizations. One was a question from one of the Malaysian IPG students regarding the Student Organization communication system at UMSU. Then it was explained by Gilang, the Chairman of IMM FKIP UMSU, that the communication system carried out in IMM through the field of communication media and a lot of wisdom.
The activity ended with a group photo and a visit to UMSU Radio. Attended by the Dean of FKIP UMSU Dra.
