The Thai Board of Investment visited the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara campus on Jalan Kapten Mukhtar Basri, Medan to explore cooperation related to human resource development in the Thai public sector in Indonesia.
“We want some Thai students who study here to work with us because we need human resources who can communicate in Thai and Indonesian,” said Chatchadaporn Krungkasem, representative of the Thai Board of Investment to UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP represented by WR 3 Dr. Rudianto, M.Si during the visit, Thursday (21/3).
The Thailand Board of Investment’s visit was accompanied by the Honorary Consulate of Thailand, which held discussion sessions. Attending the visit were Faculty leaders, OIC UMSU, and 20 Thai students at UMSU. The visit was guided by moderator Agus Sani, SE, M.Sc.
Chatchadaporn Krungkasem said that this cooperation opportunity could be a parameter for universities to provide experience to Thai students in various industrial sectors and provide mutual benefits.
“Universities can conduct training, exchanges, internships, and several other experiences to various industries or organizations,” he said.
Then, the Honorary Consulate of Thailand, Dr. Martono Anggusti, hopes that this discussion can provide mutual progress by forming future generations and making all activities that can be raised from culture while Thai students are in Indonesia.
Previously, WR 3 Dr. Rudianto had introduced UMSU as an excellent accredited university with international students in several ASEAN countries, one of which is Thailand. He also said that UMSU strongly supports international students in having experience in the world of work.
“Indonesia also has an MBKM program providing students with opportunities in the Industry. Thai students are constrained by visas to participate in these activities,” he said.
“Alumni of Thai students who graduated chose to return to Thailand because they had no experience in the Indonesian Industry,” said Rudianto.
A discussion between Thai students during the visit, the Thailand Board of Investment, the Honorary Consulate of Thailand, and Faculty Leaders regarding opportunities for international programs that can be run.
