The UMSU Faculty of Engineering, together with the Muhammadiyah Higher Education Science and Technology Association (AST PTM), held an International Conference on Engineering and Applied Technology (ICEAT) at the Niagara Hotel, Parapat, Wednesday (19/10) attended by 23 PTMs in Indonesia.
The Regent of Simalungun Radiapoh Hasional Sinaga SH MH opened this activity. It was attended by the Rector of UMSU, Prof. Dr. Agussani M.AP; apart from that, officials from the PPM Research and Development Research Council and Deans and Deputy Deans of the Faculty of Engineering and Heads of Engineering Study Programs in PTMs throughout Indonesia.
At the seminar’s opening, Simalungun Regent Radiapoh Hasiolan Sinaga expressed his joy at having chosen Parapat (Toba caldera) as the location for the National Conference and Seminar. “We hope that the leadership of the Muhammadiyah tertiary institution, which has enjoyed the beauty of Parapat, can come back here again,” said Radiapoh Sinaga.
The Regent hopes that PTM can play a better role in the development of the nation and state. I am proud and feel how great Muhammadiyah college is. This is indicated by the number of universities and their students. “Hopefully, PTM can produce smart and reliable intellectuals and human resources,” said the Simalungun Regent.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani MAP explained the importance of science and technology as a vehicle for developers to build and advance civilization. For this reason, the PTMA Science and Technology Association was born into a strategic collaboration to benefit the people. It is hoped that AST-PTMA can build synergy with local governments where Muhammadiyah universities are located.
The ICEAT activity presents a keynote speaker from the Director of Research, Technology and Community Services, Prof. Ir. Teuku Faisal Fathanai ST MT Ph.D. and four speakers from abroad, including Prof. Kanan Govindan (University of Southern Demark Odense), Dr. Muhammad Bhuiyan (West Virginia State University Morgantown, America), Prof. Norita Md Norwawawi (University of Islamic Sciences Malaysia) and Dr. Abd. Naser A. Ghani (University of Science, Malaysia).
The 23 universities involved in the National Seminar on Applied Technology, National Conferences, and Deliberations are UM-Ahmad Dahlan, UM-Yogyakarta, UM-Surakarta, UM-Malang, UM-Magelang, UM-Uhamka, UM-Purwokerto, UM-Gresik, UM-Makasar, UM-Jakarta, UM-Sidoardjo, UM-Sorong, UM-Aceh, UM-Riau, UM-Surabaya, UM-Tangerang, and UM-Sumatera Barat.
