The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara (UMSU) held a BIPA-an Public Lecture (Indonesian for Foreign Speakers) by presenting a resource person from APPBIPA English, Ms. Dorothy Ferari, BA, M.Sc., FHEA, Ph.D. (cand) who is also a Lecturer at the Institute of Education – University College London.
This public lecture was attended by North Sumatra Province APPBIPA Management, North Sumatra APPBIPA Secretary, Dr. Oki Ghaffari, M. Hum., Dean of FKIP Prima University, Dian Syafitri, M. Hum, Faculty Leaders, Study Program Leaders, Indonesian Language Education Lecturers and English Education Lecturers FKIP UMSU.
Head of APPBIPA Prov.SU, Prof. Dr. Khairil Ansyari, M.Pd, said that this public lecture was beneficial for lecturers who could act as Indonesian language teachers for foreign speakers, especially for international students at the Universitas Muhammadiyah Sumatra Utara.
The event that lecturers attended was held in the FKIP UMSU hall on Thursday (23/6).
In her general lecture delivery, Ms. Ferari also provides an opportunity for FKIP UMSU students to do internships at the Indonesian Embassy in London as BIPA teachers. “We provide opportunities for students to do internships at the Indonesian Embassy in London,” he said.
