Acting (Pj) Governor of North Sumatra, Major General TNI (Purn) Hassanudin, Regional Secretary (Sekda) of North Sumatra Ir. Arief Sudarto Trinugroho, MT, and Dr. H. Rahmat Shah visited the UMSU stand at the North Sumatra Innovation and Investment Week 2024 event.
UMSU is one of four universities participating in the North Sumatra Provincial Government’s annual Innovation and Investment Week, which was held from May 15 to 18, 2024, at the Maimun Palace parking lot in Medan.
Pj Governor of North Sumatra Hassanudin stopped by the UMSU stand and saw various student innovations, from robots and plastic waste management machines to oil, solar panel power banks, and cobalamin coffee.
These products are the work of UMSU students who have been successfully funded in various entrepreneurship programs such as the Entrepreneurial Student Development Program (P2MW), Student Digital Innovation Competition (LIDM), and Student Creativity Program (PKM).
Pj Gubsu was interested in seeing the robot innovation of UMSU Faculty of Engineering students, which will be included in the National Robot Contest. He also prayed that the work could bring the fragrance of North Sumatra Province.
“Aminn,” he said when he heard that the UMSU Engineering Faculty SAR robot would compete at the national level.
Furthermore, North Sumatra Secretary Arief Sudarto, who was enthusiastic about seeing the gallery of UMSU student works, admitted that he was very interested and wanted to know more.
“This is very interesting; there was a waste management machine, a solar panel power bank; this is what is important; technology products are appropriate but can be used daily,” he said.
In addition, Rahmat Shah, an Indonesian politician and father of actress Raline Shah, appreciated UMSU.
“Continue to succeed Muhammadiyah University of North Sumatra. Hopefully, there will be more innovations. Success also, Mr. Rector Agussani,” he said.
This Innovation and Investment Week aims to increase green investment and support the Central Government’s net zero emissions or zero carbon emissions program by 2060. Helping the economic turnover in North Sumatra by creating effective promotional media and increasing the ability and competitiveness of MSMEs.
Apart from North Sumatra Provincial Government officials, the UMSU stand was visited by thousands of students from various schools and the general public. Then, at the opening of the event, the Sultan of Deli Mahmud Lamantjiji Perkasa Alam, Forkopimda elements, a number of regents/mayors, OPD of the North Sumatra Provincial Government, consulates of friendly countries such as representatives of companies, banks, BUMDs to BUMNs were also present.
