Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Dahlan Rais M.Hum was present in front of nearly 800 UMSU academics and North Sumatra Muhammadiyah residents at a friendly breaking fast at the UMSU Campus Jalan Muhtar Basri Medan, Saturday (23/4).
At the joint breaking of the fast event, the Chairman of PWM North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, Rector of UMSU Porf. Dr. Agussani MAP, Deputy Chairperson of PWM North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Nawir Yuslem, Prof. Ibrahim Gultom, Head of PDM Medan Drs. Burhanuddin MAg and Muhammadiyah Branch Managers throughout Medan City.
Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Dahlan Rais expressed his appreciation for the achievements of UMSU. I am happy to see the current development of UMSU. “In the PTMA environment, UMSU is in the top five,” said Dahlan Rais.
The chairman of PP Muhammadiyah alluded to the UMSU tagline, Smart Excellence and Trusted, which is full of meaning. So superior, said Dahlan Rais, it is hoped that PTMA, located in Medan, can achieve competitive and comparative advantages.
UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani conveyed his welcome to the Chairperson of PP Muhammadiyah after two years of recitation activities, and breaking the fast was not carried out because the covid-19 pandemic required restrictions on open gatherings. “Let us pray for the end of the pandemic so that all (new standard) activities can occur.
Agussani conveyed the progress of today’s development of UMSU, from academic achievements to the addition of various facilities. UMSU is also in the process of adding several new study programs. “One of the best achievements of UMSU was the achievement of QS Star with four stars,” said Agussani. QS Star is a world-class university ranking that is quite famous. Through this program, UMSU managed to get a score of 699, so it got four stars.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah North Sumatra, Prof. Dr. Hasyimsyah Nasution, said the development of UMSU today was a good program and planning process. However, he reminded that UMSU should continue. UMSU must continue to be developed so that it is more advanced. The support of all association members is significant for the future development of UMSU.
Build Honesty and Maintain Trust

Regarding intelligence, Dahlan Rais mentioned being the principal capital of the trust. Trust will grow when there is honesty. Honesty builds trust. Instead, lies breed suspicion.
Dahlan Rais reminded all members of the UMSU academic community to be committed to maintaining honesty so that the trust that had been earned would not be lost.
Regarding Muhammadiyah, Dahlan Rais mentions three characteristics: Islam, Da’wah, and Tajdid. Islam which means Muhammadiyah, is Progressive Islam. Islam gave birth to superior and advanced people. Second, Islam is a religion that develops world knowledge. Third, Islah produces a high civilization, an authentic civilization.
After breaking the fast with the entire UMSU academic community and community members, Dahlan Rais took the time to look closely at the UMSU facilities on the Main Campus, Jalan Muhtar Basri.
