The Minister of Trade (Mendag) of the Republic of Indonesia, Zulkifli Hasan, was present at UMSU in the context of opening the Baitul Arqam Plenary of the Muhammadiyah Youth Regional Leadership (PWPM) North Sumatra on Monday (1/7) at the UMSU campus auditorium on Jalan Muchtar Basri No.3 Medan.
Present at the opening of the Plenary Baitul Arqam, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Agung Danarto, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Youth Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla Secretary of PWM North Sumatra, Irwansyah Putra, MA, Chairman of PW Muhammadiyah Youth M. Syarif Lubis and around 40 Baitul Arqam participants.
Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, in his speech, expressed his appreciation for the development of UMSU, which is progressing, “Muhammadiyah is lucky to have a Rector like Prof. Agussani; the campus is progressing,” said Zulhas.
He also expressed his appreciation for implementing the Plenary Baitul Arqam with the theme ‘Young Statesmen Towards a Golden Indonesia’. On this occasion, Zulkifli Hasan explained about economics and practical politics. He hopes Muhammadiyah cadres can excel in today’s political world.
Zulhas emphasized that there is no republic without Muhammadiyah. Muhammadiyah is present in Indonesia’s long history. Muhammadiyah is the biological father of this country.
“I personally have always been associated with Muhammadiyah. We also want Muhammadiyah’s successor cadres to continue to excel in education and politics,” he said.
Then, the Secretary of PWM North Sumatra, Irwansyah Putra, MA, hopes that the holding of this Baitul Arqam can produce the best Muhammadiyah cadres. “Hopefully, with the cadre through this Plenary Baitul Arqam, Muhammadiyah Youth cadres will be created who have loyalty and militancy to the association,” hoped Irwansyah.
Meanwhile, UMSU Rector Prof. Dr. Agussani, MAP, represented by WR III Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rudianto, M.Si, on this occasion, PWM North Sumatra and UMSU, as the organizers of the 49th Congress, conveyed the progress of the Congress preparation.
“UMSU, through this forum, invites all to jointly succeed the series of Muktamar, which is very extraordinary and will be a memory in the city of Medan and North Sumatra,” said WR III UMSU.

Baitul Arqam Paripuirna Muhammadiyah Youth was officially opened by Muhammadiyah PP Chairman Agung Danarto. Based on a report from the Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah Youth Dzulfikar Ahmad Tawalla, Baitul Arqam Paripuirna will last five days and take place at Polonia Hotel Medan and Parapat, Monday through Friday, July 1-5, 2024, with 37 participants.
